For all my friends that moved 'Up North' to Roswell, Crabapple, Alpharetta, Milton and John's Creek... Stop by the Alpharetta Moonlight Market - Friday August 28th from 5-10pm.
Even if you are not a buyer - come by and say "hey!" - I'd love to see you and catch up.
I have never done this market (I don't really do many markets) - not sure if there are booth numbers or not...
I do know that I am in the Back 40 - with the West Market Street Mafia. According to the Internet (so it must be true). It is a rag-tag bunch of Artists, artisans, woodworkers, potters, painters, jewelry makers, candle makers, soap makers, leatherworkers, quilters, crocheters, bakers, beekeepers, jam makers, hot-sauce hustlers, pickle pirates, sourdough smugglers, flower farmers, plant peddlers, vintage vultures, antique ingénues, tie-dye tycoons, resin wranglers, charcuterie slingers, food-truck fugitives, craft-beer brewers, pallet pirates, tent squatters, chalkboard scribblers, people with Venmo, people who own thirteen folding tables, people who say they’re “just looking,” husbands carrying six shopping bags, dogs in bandanas... AND CATHOLICS!
Stop by and peruse the goods!

EDIT - I WAS ACCEPTED! Come see me August 28th Alpharetta Moonlight Market from 5-10PM. I will be one of the 'Market Street' booths.

Hoping to do an upcoming Art Market in Alpharetta. They, understandably, don't want it to become a Flea Market - so they want proof that your stuff is handmade by you...
In reverse order - here is the basic process I have developed in almost 10 years of doing this:
1. Finished Tailgate/Dorm Carving with the proud parts hand painted (all that's left is to clear coat it).
2. Add the sawtooth hanger on the back.
3. Sand off the base spray that is on the 'proud' parts.
4. Base Sprayed - ready for sanding.
5. Masked and base sprayed.
6. Letting the CNC Mill do it's thing!
Some folks say that it is not 'real art' - and I get it... The 'artistry or craftmanship is in making the design 'carvable'. If you look back to my earliest stuff in 2017 you can see the difference.
*Not shown* The design process. Taking a basic idea and making it a 'carveable' design.
7. Panel glue up. After harvesting the slats on the pallets, I cut them to size and run them through the table saw to get a good glue edge. You can never own enough clamps!
8. Thanks to my wonderful clients, we have saved 200+/- pallets from the landfill in almost 10 years. I sort through the pine pallets, because they don't carve very well - and have learned to spot Red/White Oak, Poplar, and occasionally I will run across the white whales of the pallet world - Cherry and Mahogany. I believe those are offshoots from the furniture industry. The wood will not make much of a sideboard - but it makes a hell of a pallet!

My workbench is a mess, but my whiskey is neat! (not really - there is plenty of ice in there. It's been a long hot summer...)

Hopefully this shows the process, and if selected, I will let you know where to find me in the upcoming market! - JDW

Let's try this again...
It's always a tremendous honor when folks ask for a JDWFOLKART piece to benefit charity. You can multiply that by 10 when it will support our American Heroes.
Thanks to for bidding on and winning a custom carving.
A couple of texts later and here is the finished product. A wonderful gift for a wonderful hero.
Kudos to an ancient Auburn Tiger, for reaching out to support .

Also a couple of other projects working their way through the shop.
