I’ve been experimenting with AI as part of my design process recently, and this was an interesting test.
Each concept started as a traditional interior design moodboard. Materials, furniture, lighting, color palette, and artwork were carefully selected to define the direction of the space. I then used AI to translate those boards into rendered environments.
What’s remarkable is how quickly the technology can visualize ideas that previously required lengthy rendering workflows. It creates an opportunity to explore design concepts faster and communicate spatial ideas more clearly.
At the same time, the experiment reinforced something important. AI didn’t create the design. The palette, furniture selections, proportions, and overall vision were already defined by the moodboard—AI simply helped bring that concept to life visually.
In that sense, AI isn’t replacing designers. It’s becoming another tool within the creative process, and I suspect we’re only at the beginning of how technology will reshape design workflows.
