I’m excited about the artist talk on Sunday at Red Springs ArtSpace. So much to talk about.

In the meantime, I made this video late morning yesterday of my Cotton Rosemallow.  It has been passed down as the confederate rose in the south, the name that I had problem with. So when Manoj visited our backyard in southwest Atlanta, he said that in India, it was called the Magic Rose because when they would leave for school in the morning it was white. When they returned from school, it was pink. I loved that story.

Here at Half Acre Farm, I use Magic Rose. It is of the hibiscus family.

Moving right along…my solo show here in Red Springs, NC, a place I call home. It’s a tiny town, that was once known as “the Saratoga of the south”.

But here I am! Loving the rural life (but MUST have that big city vibe, via ATL, Durham, etc.). I have no complaints!

I started this ages ago. It’s almost finished. I worked in oils. Quite refreshing. This is headed to Red Springs ArtSpace to be included in my solo show there in October!

I started working on this piece so many years ago that I can't count. But it does not matter because I decided to finish it. And get this, it's an oil painting. I could not remember the parts that I'd done in Acrylic so oil was my only choice. And I enjoyed the medium tremendously.

I am so excited. The Board of the Red Springs Presbyterian Church has approved my teaching classes. The classes will start after Labor Day! I am honored to be able to teach at this historic building erected in the early 1900s. Thanks Pastor Dari Rowan, Red Springs ArtSpace and the board for making this happen!
