My work is, more than anything, an exploration and celebration of color and texture. I am entranced by the way a line moves across a surface and can divide a piece into dynamic sections, or how the application or removal of a bit of clay or paint from one area can create a dramatic focal point. I am enchanted by combinations of color that can cause one other vibrate. I love the tactile nature of c

lay and the ability to affect changes on its surface with different tools and methods; scraping and scratching onto it, carving away areas, smoothing and burnishing others. I love to paint and enjoy creating clay pieces that are canvases for colorful imagery and decoration. Much of my inspiration comes from nature and my work often features images that seem botanical or biological in nature. I have also been greatly influenced by my travels and the colors and patterns that I have seen in the arts and handicrafts of people and places that I have visited. My goal is to create work that is both functional and beautiful and that brings joy and delight to its user/viewer. Ceramics, jewelry, paintings and prints by mixed media artist Charity Hofert. I'm trying to get a bit of a jump on some of these Halloween cuties. Each of these tiny spooks is made by hand (no molds) and is mounted on a bit of nichrome wire. I will use them to put atop mini Halloween houses, hills, spooky trees, other ghosts etc... Working on this type of item little by little and setting batches aside as i go along is one of the things that i do to prepare for a show or sale well ahead of time. It makes things a lot easier later when i don't need to rush to make a bunch at the last minute. Also, they are a fun thing to work on between other, bigger pieces.

And for those of you who are still reading (thank you, by the way! Lots of people seem to skip this part)- I will be having my online spring sale this coming Friday, the 5th of June, at 11 AM, EST. Please make sure you are following my account/ page to make sure you see all of my posts. I will share info about how the sale will be conducted in a post within the next couple of days.

In the meantime, I am working on a bit of new work, cleaning the studio, trying to make dinner a time or two 🤪, and getting the remaining show items organized and ready for photos and sale.

I am so glad that I decided to add one more day to the show! It's already been hoppin' here today and I've had fun catching up with some folks 🌼🩷

I'll be out here until 5 PM, if you are considering a visit. I'd love to see you!

So many fun colors and patterns on display right now!

I have decided to add one more day to the in-person show this weekend- Saturday, May 30th from 12-5. I know the forecast calls for rain, but if you're looking for something to do between showers, come on by! The porch is covered, so you can take a gander at the show and stay dry! 🌂 🎨 🌼 🌸 🌻 🐦 🏠 🍃

The online sale will take place sometime next week and I will nail down details for that soon. Online shoppers, there will still be LOTS to choose from. I made soooo many minis this time around, as well as lots of vases and little plant pots, mini mosaics, dozens and dozens of flowers, magnets, trinket dishes....

Don't ever doubt it. 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

Sending lots of love and many thanks to everyone who dodged the raindrops and came to see me today! It was a lovely time on the porch seeing old friends and making some new friends too!

I sold some pieces, watched a lizard play on the hydrangea bush outside, listened to the birds singing their little hearts out and enjoyed the heavenly smell of my gardenias in bloom. I drank delicious coffee. I listened to music.

Then to top it off, my sweet mama showed up at our house with homemade Mac and cheese, salad and some delicious rolls for dinner.

It was a great day!

Same place tomorrow from 1-5. Hope to see you then!

A fun shelf from the last kiln load. The tiny trinket dishes were decorated with underglaze transfers from and then i filled them in with some color, so they look kind of like they were painted with water colors. I also love the little rainbow leaf plates and the footed dishes that I made with vintage doilies for texture.

This weekend may be a rainy one (though who can say. The forecast has been all over the place!). But dont let it keep you away! My show is on our covered porch so we should all be able to stay relatively dry!

Studio table at the the 11th hour. Lots of good work happened today-- a huge thank you to my helpers who schlepped and lugged, swept and dusted etc.... and a SUPER HUGE thank you to my tireless studio assistant, who is my "left hand gal" (as opposed to right hand man....). She cut wire for hours and glued together many dozens of flowers to their stems, sanded stilt marks off of pots, glued magnets onto flowers, cleaned some pieces that needed a little refresh..... and more. Today I did a bit of glazing, loaded a final kiln, cleaned the studio a bit, worked on bringing stuff up to the porch and beginning to set up the display pieces, and then spent the rest of the time trying to get some mosaic pieces underway. I had hoped to finish more, but I hit a wall and decided to call it a night.

Several folks have sent messages asking for show details and I promise I will follow up tomorrow. I'm just too pooped tonight to do another thing. 🙏❤️

Fire away, little babies!!!
This is one of the last kiln loads I will have a chance to fire before my spring shown starts on Saturday. It is full of wheelthrown bud vases, some little trinket dishes, a few flower frogs and some larger handbuilt vases and vessels. Finger and toes crossed everything turns out ok!!
