I am absolutely heartbroken to have heard that my friend Fiona Gray passed away today in Shetland after a brief illness. A brilliant fiber artist with an infectious smile, Fiona was endlessly generous and always supportive. Visiting with Fiona at her home in Bressay last fall was one of the highlights of Shetland Wool Week 2022 for me. I am privileged to have brought home several of her woven items last fall; I will treasure them always. Rest in peace, sweet friend. .shetland

Still Covid+ over here, so I did what one does and decided to spin for a sweater. Many thanks to for the challenge and inspiration! This is 2.5 years’ worth of spindle-spun yarn from and plied into a 3-ply marl in preparation for the by . Next up, yards upon yards of gray Hanui Halfbred from . 😵‍💫 Feels good to be making during a time when I can’t do much else!

Happy Earth Day!! I’m delighted to announce the launch of Create and Sustain, the first non-profit dedicated to sustainability for quilting, home sewing, and fiber arts. I recently joined the board of this wonderful organization and am thrilled about our plans!

After a year and a half of work, we thrilled to officially announce Create and Sustain, a new non-profit for the quilting, home sewing and crafting industries focused on living creatively and sustainably. We can have both.

In-stock masks have returned to Indigo & Madder! The first set of masks is now live at indigoandmadder.etsy.com. I have masks available in five sizes, from Little Kid through Adult Large.

Additional inventory will be uploaded throughout the weekend with more offerings to be added next weekend. These masks will ship quickly -- within 1-3 business days of your order.
