I became 're-obsessed' with Islamic/Persian boxes, trays, lanterns/lamps, shields and daggers, when I came across another beautiful mixed-metals Box, with a central cartouche of birds.....Ahhhhh

Some autographs and comments from esteemed Gemologists with whom I enjoyed a trip to London for a 1981 Gemological Convention, thanks to Jeannie Litchfield, who wrangled me an Invitation, via her membership in the Gemmological Association of Great Britain.....As well as a rare opportunity to view, up close and personally, some of the British Crown Jewels that were usually encased at The Tower Of London or in British Museums, Palaces and Castles......

I lugged back to Atlanta, some new 'Technology'.....a Chelsea Color Filter, a Polarascope and miniature Dichroscope, a miniature refractometer and new Leica lens to replace my 'old' Bausch and Lomb oculars....updating my Atlanta Office to a more Professional Rank with some 'been there, done that' credibility....and got some gold stars and an embossing device for swanker appraisals to accompany some of the more 'important' items that would, hopefully, leave my cases for the bosoms, fingers, necks and wrists of my Patrons.....

One of my 'Real Antiques'......a large African fossilized Ammonite.....A carnivorous chambered Cephalopod that dwelt in ancient oceans, millions of years before the Dawn Of Land Creatures......this 'specimen' lived and hunted....almost a half billion years ago......

during a quick run through the aisles of The Scott Antique Market Show, Friday ......at the last minute, thinking 'I should buy "something", after the trip, here.......I, spontaneously, purchased a framed photographm primarily...for its frame.......

as Fall arrives, then Winter......the colorful butterflies have disappeared.....except for these jeweled pins that I can wear, even when the ground is frozen.....

This Aesthetic Movement WIlliam Morris picture frame has been leaning against a wall for 37 years........I'd decided to put it to use, 8 years ago, surrounding an old Japanese woodblock, deeming the frame worthier of a heavier-looking work........Too much? I recalled all those huge frames on small paintings at The Tate Museum.......Fancy frames add some gravitas to otherwise more subtle, unnoticed works of Art.

The small hollow, granulated silver 'chiming bell ball', once worn, suspended from her ID tag leather collar, by my cat, Petrouchka..... Now, suspended from a black leather cord.....as a tintinabulatory memory of a long-gone feline friend......

Of course, QEII would have 'dressed properly'....even to visit the Wedgwood Factory Museum.....if, only to promote her percentages from the retro-marketing of 1953's "John Flaxman Neoclassic Pale Blue Jasper Commemorativeware"

In 'research mode', again, this afternoon......and, am puzzled by this peculiar Vase......Italian, I assumed...and now, 'know'...that has a goopy glaze of pustule-like bursting bubbles that resemble an arrested development of geometric other-worldly turquoise, lime, avocado dip, & oil-cured red tomato molds that have released their 'spores'........It had been on a basement shelf for years....until I noticed that it would look 'good' with this 'other-worldly' watercolor painting......
