Bohemian Frou Frou stall is out at St Leonard’s Church Market today.

It’s a great place to showcase my work and meet and chat with people.

I have some freshly made stock this week too, including the ‘One For Joy’ Magpie art cushion, a cross-stitch folky cushion and a Frida Kahlo bag.

The image of Frida on the bag is from my original oil painting of Frida with the black cat and monkey.

I’m also showing my textile version of the Anarchy in the UK Union Jack. Mine is made with a combination of Harris Tweed off cuts - that I brought back from the Isle of Harris in the Highlands, bleached denim and white lace from a vintage tablecloth.

My newly framed prints include ‘Bling King L’ the spider, the Bubble Popping Cats and I’ve just sold an A3 framed version of the Cyber Wolf Woman. She’s proving popular! These artworks were created especially for my solo-exhibition in Hastings.

New to my stall too is a ceramic Eye of Ra, recently out of the kiln.

Upcycling a 1970s ottoman, from a plain white box to a new look suedette covered padded lid ottoman was a labour of love.

This was the first time I’d done something like this and although it was challenging at times, I learned loads and most importantly, my client, who had this piece of useful storage furniture in her family since the 1970s was really pleased with the transformation.

I used original retro fabric for the front floral appliqués and vintage braids as trims.

The box cushion is made with foam and the cover zips off, making it easier to clean. It’s attached to the lid with Velcro, making the ottoman on castors a functional storage box and extra seating!

Bohemian Frou Frou unique art cushions, textile wall hangings and art bags are created using a combination of , pre-loved and contemporary fabrics and trims. Mixed Media Artist Amanda Stone uses a variety of art/textile techniques, including rehashing her original hand drawn artworks and paintings, digitally manipulating, printing on fabric, embroidery, crazy patchwork and appliqué to ensure that no 2 items are ever the same. The artist is always on the lookout for braids, fabrics and embellishments to use in her one-off, .

Inspirations come from her passions for interiors, travels, nature, stately homes, fashion, the circus, art and cultural history, music and the free spirited boho lifestyle.

Saint Leonards Church Market this Saturday, Amanda is also displaying her original paintings and selling limited edition prints of her anthopomorphic artwork, that take a fresh and humorous look at some of the animals that folk often fear, in the hope that they might reconsider and grow to love them.

These were created for her recent solo exhibition through , “Miss Understood Creatures”.
