Each one raku fired with the elemental symbols carved by hand into unglazed clay. No two come out exactly the same, thatโ€™s the nature of raku.

Raku is a firing process where pieces are pulled from the kiln red hot, still glowing, and moved immediately into a container with combustible material like sawdust or paper. The sudden lack of oxygen causes the smoke to get pulled into any exposed, unglazed clay, turning it black while the glazed areas crackle and shine. Itโ€™s fast, a little dangerous, and every piece comes out one of a kind.
