And that’s a wrap! Today we closed the door on our Bar Harbor chapter, and what an incredible journey it was! We have made so many memories and met so many wonderful people in our years here. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of our dream.

To all of our amazing customers, we would like to share an important update about Penelope’s with you all. After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our business in Bar Harbor after this season.

Unfortunately, due to the drastic cut in cruise ship visitation going forward, we can no longer see a viable financial path for Penelope’s in Bar Harbor as we are heavily dependent on our cruise ship customers. We fell in love with Bar Harbor while visiting 14 years ago and have loved living in the area year round. The store has been a dream come true and even better than we dreamed. We had hoped to keep the business here and in the family for years to come, so this decision was not made lightly.

We hope to relocate and continue operations in a year round location, and we hope to provide your favorite items online as well, so stay tuned for more information as plans are made! We will also begin our closing sale very soon, so be on the lookout for updates in the coming days and weeks!

Thank you all so much for your support and business over the years! We have met some amazing people and hope to stay connected with you! You have made our job such a joy!
