One of my recent clients was convinced her old silver platters were simply decorative pieces collecting dust.

Turns out… they were genuine sterling silver.

Yes, really.

These pieces had been tucked away in the garage for years, with no idea they held significant value.

As professional organizers, we often uncover forgotten treasures—sterling silver, gold jewelry, heirloom pieces, and collectibles that can help fund renovations, pay for travel, or simply put money back in your pocket.

How to Tell If It’s Real Sterling Silver

Look for these markings:

✔️ Sterling
✔️ 925
✔️ .925
✔️ Ster
✔️ Lion Passant (a small lion stamp on many antique pieces)

If you see any of these, your item may be worth far more than you think.

What About Gold?

Check jewelry for stamps such as:

✨ 10K
✨ 14K

✨ 22K
✨ 24K

Even broken chains, single earrings, and damaged pieces can have significant value.

Clear decor, plants, and furniture away from doors and windows. Buyers need to move freely and have access to windows.

Notice how it instantly feels bigger… and brighter? ✨

2. Lose the cords
If you’re not actually using it—remove it. Guest room TV cords? Gone.

These small details create visual clutter, and buyers always notice (even if they don’t realize it).

3. Clear the counters
