It is only fitting as Katie and I met through a cancer support and fundraising event for the first collaborative workshop between our small businesses A Rooted Home ™ Shop and Katie Krause to give back a portion of our event proceeds to Cal's Angels 🎗️💛 in anticipation of September and a cause dear to my heart .

Fun was had by all at our beginner mahjong lesson yesterday at ! Despite losing power, we carried on and learned and laughed together (and luckily the power came back on about an hour into things- thank goodness)! So fun!

Our shop has been created with encouragement and joy from this community, and we truly can’t wait to welcome you in!💗

This Saturday will be our First Look at the shop. We will be open and ready to welcome guests as a stop on downtown Batavia's Step Into Spring: Wine Walk. 🍷👟 (Note, you will need a 🎟 to participate in the wine portion and you can purchase those at downtownbatavia.com).

Next Saturday we'll continue the celebration! We're busy filling the shop with cute items to tuck in Easter baskets, lovely gifts, and a broader selection of the charming pieces you loved at our Boardwalk Shop.

🎀A Little Holiday House Tour🎀

I have been meaning to share a little walk through our home all decorated (and clean) for the holidays. Our home itself isn’t spectacular in terms of size or stature, it’s a builder grade home we’ve built up in character, most of the decorations have been collected over time or made, but it feels like us—warm, layered and lived-in.

I love when a cozy home (and a family + 🐶) welcomes our oldest son home from college🌴☀️ (my main reason for decorating early). It what he looks forward to most. And the boys get involved and take care of our basement tree with ornaments we bring home from trips we’ve taken near and far…It’s so fun to pull them out and talk about a special or oftentimes sometimes silly/crazy memory we have. Someone always reminds us to find a shop with ornaments in the middle of summer.

But I really do love when our house is all dressed up with little details and delights. I hope it brings you a bit of joy.✨
