Workshop Wednesday
Well, our first vendor show is officially in the books!
Saturday was a big day for 304 Decor. We finally got the chance to load up all the things we’ve been working on for the last several months, set up our booth, and put our little business out there for the world to see.
First off, I’d like to thank the organizers of the Beckley event for giving us the opportunity to be part of it. I’d also like to thank everyone who braved the cold and wind to come out and support the vendors. Whether you stopped to chat, checked out our work, or just offered a smile and a kind word, we appreciate you.
Now, I’ve got some people I need to recognize because there’s absolutely no way I could’ve pulled this off by myself.
Debbi Cochran made the trip all the way up from North Carolina just to help us with the show. That means more to me than I can put into words.
Susie Beisner-Cochran, Logan Cochran, and Summer Fraley — I couldn’t have asked for a better support team. From helping get everything ready to putting up with me through the whole process, you guys were awesome. Thank you!
FootsHD and Michelle Mcfall— thank you both for your continued friendship, encouragement, and support. Having good people in your corner makes a hell of a difference, especially when you’re trying to get something like this off the ground.
And we certainly can’t forget The Raleigh County moth man! He stopped by to hang out with us, helped draw a little attention to our booth, and made a cold, windy Saturday a whole lot more entertaining. I appreciate you, buddy!
As for the show itself, well, I’d be lying if I said it went exactly as we’d hoped. Mother Nature wasn’t particularly cooperative, and things were a little slower than we’d have liked. But that’s the way it goes sometimes.
I’m not going to call it a failure. We learned a few things, made a few observations, and got some experience under our belts that we simply couldn’t have gotten any other way.
And when I stood back and looked at that booth, filled with things we’d made with our own two hands, I was pretty damn proud of what we’ve accomplished.
A few months ago, 304 Decor was little more than an idea and a pile of lumber. Saturday, it was a real business with a booth full of handcrafted Appalachian decor.
That’s worth something to me.
So we’re going to take what we learned, get back in the shop, and keep moving forward. We’ve got plenty of ideas, plenty of sawdust left to make, and we’re just getting started.
To everyone who has supported us, encouraged us, helped us, or even just followed along as we’ve tried to turn this crazy idea into something real — thank you.
We genuinely couldn’t do this without you.
