Dipping has been a learning experience. It looks so easy when you see it in cute videos online. But once you’re doing it, you learn real quick that there is an art to it. It’s not as simple as “just dipping it in chocolate and adding drizzle.”
Part 1:
Some of my fave tips:
🍓 Shop around! Never settle! -
Your customers want that “perfect berry” look and so do you. We eat with our eyes before it even enters our mouth. Skipping this step cause it’s easier, faster, less work shortchanges YOU and your customers.
🍓Strawberry Season Matters! -
Update your SM and make sure your customers know cause it definitely affects size and sometimes the price.
🍓 ALWAYS wash berries thoroughly! -
I like a good baking soda bath and soak. Comment “BATH” and I can send you ratios and times. 🤫 Shouldn’t have to say this, but you’d be surprised how many skip this to “save drying time”.
🍫 Make sure your berries dry COMPLETELY before dipping. -
Whether you pat or air dry this step is key. 🔑 Excess water will affect your end result and not in a good way.
🍓 Toothpick placement matters! -
Try to put your toothpick in the center of the stem. Pull em up and use your toothpick as an anchor to pierce the leaves. It gets them out of the way so you can completely coat your berry. And you still get the clean leaf look.
🍫 Add an oil! -
Some add coconut oil or vegetable oil to the chocolate for a thin, smooth shiny dip. I’ve found this trick depends on the brand of chocolate you’re using. The higher quality brands have a better melting experience than others. So test this out in a small batch before committing.
