So thrilled to have three paintings included in “It’s a Dystopian World, I Just Live Here,” opening this weekend ! 🖤

This show is deeply meaningful to me. These pieces were created for the hosted by to amplify the stories of three vulnerable "Tipping Point" species: the Florida Scrub-Jay, the Brown-capped Rosy-Finch, and the Lewis’s Woodpecker.

The timing feels completely aligned, as my Lewis's Woodpecker piece just won Overall Runner Up in 's international juried WINGS exhibition right as it goes up for sale this weekend. This recognition is incredibly valuable because it directly fuels my ability to turn this milestone into real-world funding to give back to these birds.

Because art is my way of fighting back against the bleakness of a changing world, a portion of my proceeds will be donated to The Bird Conservancy of the Rockies (). They do vital, on-the-ground work to protect these birds—from tracking alpine specialists facing a melting home, to restoring the specific forest habitats the Lewis's Woodpecker needs to survive.

Come out to support an incredible lineup of over 50 artists and help protect these species before they are gone.

Just a friendly reminder that today is the final day to vote for me in The People's Artist. It's 2X voting and ends at 7PM PDT. This will determine the Group Finalists and who moves into the Quarter-Finals. I truly appreciate all the support everyone has given, both large and small.

Day 9 hosted by : The Nightingale. 🎤✨

Commonly known as the ultimate nocturnal diva, these birds sing at 90 decibels (that’s as loud as a power lawnmower) just to land a date. But behind the music, they are elite athletes who trek 3,000+ miles across the Sahara solo.

But lately, nature is playing a bizarre evolutionary prank on them: their wings are shrinking. It’s essentially forcing a marathon runner to compete in shoes two sizes too small.

Sidenote, I had a bit of a migratory reality check of my own this week. I left the comfort of my studio for my very first plein air painting session at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens Peony Garden () in with (thank you and for having me!). The peonies were in full bloom and simply breathtaking, but the heat was truly intense. Trying to paint outdoors felt like completely relearning how to mix paint and see color, a tiny taste of what it’s like to adapt when your environment suddenly changes the rules on you, much like the nightingales and their changing wings.

Despite the sweat and the steep learning curve, it was a wonderful experience. It reminded me how critical it is to protect the natural "pit stops" these birds rely on. By embracing a little mess and preserving thickets and wild green spaces, we give them a place to rest those tired wings. They’ve spent centuries singing us through the night, but it’s up to us to make sure the journey doesn't become too much for them to handle. 🎶🧡

So honored to earn Overall Runner Up in the 5th Annual WINGS juried international exhibition Wild Heart Gallery for my Lewis's Woodpecker!

Congratulations Lindsey Sherline for “Lewis’s Woodpecker” earning Overall Runner Up in 5th Annual WINGS juried international virtual exhibition.

Artist’s description: My oil on gesso board painting captures the striking iridescent green and pink plumage of a Lewis’s Woodpecker in flight. Created for the State of the Birds 2026 challenge, the piece highlights this unique, vulnerable species to advocate for the preservation of the dead forest trees they rely on for survival.

Day 20 of hosted by 🕊️

MISSION BRIEFING: Operation Nectar Theft 🚨

Codename: The Snowcap Hummingbird.
Weight: Less than a penny.
Migration Strategy: Moving down the mountain to play the most frustrating game of hide-and-seek with birdwatchers.

Survival Strategy: The Stealth Bomber. 🛩️💥

While giant hummingbirds are throwing absolute tantrums and fighting over the prime real estate flowers, the Snowcap drops low, flies erratically like a bee, and slips into the shadows.

They quietly raid the perimeter flowers, get their sugar fix, and vanish before anyone even notices they were there. Just a tiny, burgundy secret agent living in a giant bird’s world. 🕵️‍♂️✨

Day 14 of hosted by : The Amur Falcon.

Imagine flying 2,400 miles non-stop across an ocean and treating it like a drive-thru window. 🍟🦅

This guy pulls off the longest overwater flight of any raptor, crossing the Indian Ocean from India to Africa. But instead of packing a lunch, they hunt migrating dragonflies mid-air while flying at top speeds.

Can you imagine having the skill to dine and dash at 40 mph???

They don't actually migrate; they just "irrupt." Translate that to: "The local snack bar ran out of voles, so we are flying blindly south until we hit food."

Because they have zero internal compass, their "migration" is pure chaos:

🌊 Water Panic: They are terrified of large lakes. When they hit Lake Superior, they panic and pile up on the shore like a confused avian traffic jam.

🗺️ Lost in the Suburbs: The "Phantom of the North" frequently takes a wrong turn and ends up staring blankly at people from a golf course or a suburban stop sign.

😳 No Social Boundaries: Since they live in remote forests, they don't know what humans are. If they get lost in your town, they will happily perch on your backyard swing and judge you from three feet away.
