Round 2. Husky Fir is coming back with a modified business model that is FAR less impactful on family life. Custom furniture was extremely fun to build, but far too time consuming to balance with our family life.

Photos reflect the before versus after of applying mineral oil to this maple/walnut cutting board. Only a few more coats to go before she's seasoned and ready for use for the customer!!🔪🔪

Shout out to my poor camera skills .. I meant to record a video of the mineral oil application, but realized after the fact that I only took photos .. I'm getting old and out of touch with technology.

Water-popping an edge-grain cutting board that's made from strips of maple and walnut 🍁🌰

Spraying with water helps raise the wood fibers before final sanding / dunking in mineral oil. It keeps that board feeling smooth after oil is applied.

It also gives a sneak peek at what the board will like after mineral oil / board butter finish is applied (the best part of any cutting board or butcher block project). Makes that grain pop!🍿🍿

I don't know about all of you, but as a parent of 2 kids, the staging photos you typically see never match reality ...

*.. So here's a unique staging method that (maybe) is more relatable for all of you too!😆

The coffee is never ready to brew when you wake up in the morning (as shown in photo #2) ... First, you have to clean the dirty coffee pot from yesterday, then clean up the diapers and toys that the kids threw around before bed time 🚒🚚

All lumber is locally-sourced pine and topped with a low VOC top coat, for a reliable yet eco-friendly finish.🪵💚
