Our clients’ beautiful old home had an awkward in-between room—tucked between the kitchen and dining room—with no real natural light and no clear purpose. Too small for a family room yet not quite right for a breakfast nook, we reimagined the space as a truly multifunctional space.
A built-in banquette, a TV over the fireplace, and cozy lounge seating create zones for gathering, relaxing, and everyday living. To address the lack of natural light, we leaned into architectural interest, layering in detailed trim and integrating mirrors within box molding to subtly suggest windows where we wished there were windows! Enveloping the room in a rich courtyard green and covering the floors and ceiling in a natural-fiber rug and wallcovering creates a warm, cocoon-like feel. The result feels entirely new, yet completely recognizable as the same space.
We can’t wait to begin Phase 2 of finishing this client’s home—head to our stories to see how we’re tying it all together in the dining room and what we’re affectionately calling the Gallery.
