My makeshift watering hole for thirsty birds, bugs, and bees. It’s too hot in the Deep South to find water. Thankfully I figured out how to detach the water bubbler from the solar cells. Now I have water in the shade!

Ok, this is not a looker of a meal! But it’s an updated version of a childhood fave. It was potatoes, sauerkraut, and pork chops. Today’s version is potatoes, sauerkraut, and smoked pork!! Best part… it’s a bowl dinner!!!

It can’t be easier, or probably saltier🤣. Tater per person, can o’ kraut, smoked pork from a 2lb pack from Sam’s.

Nuke potatoes until partially cooked, brown a bit in the skillet, dump in kraut and top with pork. Let it steam until potatoes are tender!

Internet dating wisdom says that you should see 3 men at the same time so you will not get obsessed with one and make poor decisions.

So, to prevent me from becoming obsessed with my plant boyfriend Darcy Tangerine that I met at the Lowe’s clearance rack, I picked up a couple more beaus at Lowe’s today. (Internet dating wisdom says it’s a good place to find a beau, though I’m not sure they were talking about plants.)

Patio peach tree claiming to get only 5 feet tall with peaches best for cooking was the first plant boyfriend I added to the buggy. Peach jam coming next summer!!! By the way, those trees that have been in the parking lot all spring, half off!

Finally, I’ve been crushing for a while on banana trees. I think I even posted about them. Anyway, I found this dwarf cavendish banana tree for $10! He’s a little rough around the edges, but he will clean up well!

So, here we are with a growing orchard of dwarf fruit trees- tangerine, peach, and banana. Now if my fig would fruit, I might have fruit in every season!! Hopefully, I have no heartbreakers in the group. I certainly have some high maintenance options! Lowe's Home Improvement

Today in clay- it was glazing day for me. The glaze I made on Friday was ugly. I’ll reglaze tomorrow and see if I can fix it. I made a new pink glaze today that should look good with orange. Here’s my items from the bisque fire and my notes on the glaze combos I’m experimenting with! I’m hoping the birds will be black with some hint of blue shining in the sun. Did you see my big needle? I’m using it as a glaze trailer and dot maker.

Today in clay class we made pinch pots and then made “rattles” via pinch pit technique. As it sounds, it’s a ball of clay that you pinch into shape- usually a bowl shape. rattles are closed forms with little balls of clay inside. The work is placed on a board and in a plastic bag so it will dry slowly. I made 5 contemporary birds - ‘cause I’m speedy! And a 4-5” tall pinch pot bowl. Most exciting news…. I’ll start on the wheel tomorrow! The quality of my skills on the wheel doesn’t indicate my enthusiasm. Get ready for some posts of wonky bowl, mighty strange mugs and snack plates, and/or pieces I will call “sculptural” when questioned! 🤣🤣

My garden is growing. My will is strong. My harvests… well, they are modest. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Let’s just say the cut flowers are producing better right now. I’m fine with that, all and all!

It’s called Sgraffito and it means to scratch. I’m scratching out my honeycomb pattern on my honeycomb tiles. I’m adding bees to a few of the tiles by both scratching and sketching with my underglaze pencil. As a safety girl, I’ve made 8 tiles in case some blow up or look strange after the firing.

Wealth is having fresh flowers grown in your yard. Be it these lily bulbs or simply pretty “weeds” like my favorite henbit. I’ve loved picking henbit since childhood, though I didn’t know its name. They look like teeny orchids.

Much easier than my homemade vinegar and dawn solution! Blue light draws in the little flying bad guys and the sticky pads catch them! Plus, it’s a little nightlight.
