We’re in the car for our annual roadtrip out to Wisconsin.. somewhere outside of Missouri at the moment with plans to pull up in Princeton, WI tomorrow afternoon for the summer! I’ve been answering questions about the road trip/summer house/life in stories but also I have a WISCO house highlight if you’re interested🤎

I’d planned to use the hours and hours in the car to be productive and create/plan some content for summer but someone asks me to hand them a snack or map to something or google something every 10 min so that’s probably not going to happen.

Last summer this would’ve been my to-do list for like, a single weekend 🙃🙈

We leave for Wisconsin next week and I’m going back and forth about what or how I’ll share. On one hand I’d love to do a full-on summer recap series of all the renovation projects we did (thinking of calling it “All the sh*t I never showed you” ha) but on the other, how nice would it be to have an ACTUAL 90s summer where none of it is CONTENT and I just garden and go to the library with the kids and make a million sandwiches and float down a river.. which, annoyingly, also would be great content 🙈

I just really love the challenge of figuring out how to get creative with what I have.. for outfit styling, home projects.. dinner! I hope you’re encouraged to do the same bc creative play is great for your brain 🫶🏻

An April I’ll never forget ✨

Edinburgh > York > London > English Countryside > Tucson > Bisbee (and back home to Tucson)

The UK trip was such an incredible opportunity for novelty and creativity and slowness.. traveling sans kids, where you’re only in charge of yourself, is a totally different experience.. and especially fun when your travel companion has the exact same taste (so many split dishes and never a disagreement on what sounds good for dinner) and travel preferences (unhurried taking in of the public sights, not a lot of ticketed tourist things.. okay with excessive walking) and sense of humor (laughing so we (mostly) don’t cry when we get on the wrong train). 10/10!

I got home feeling inspired to think about how to keep finding slow, simple moments of beauty amidst the hustle of regular life… because I don’t know when I’ll get to take a trip like that again. The biggest little thing I’ve implemented has been keeping up my opposite hand sketching practice!

Can we believe it’s already May?! That was the quickest month of my life.

I filmed the full dusting and restyling and I’m scared to show you bc it was BAD.. like I don’t even remember the last time I dusted🙈 the bottom shelf was barely dusty tho bc we use the stuff on that one a lot so it’s constantly rotating around. Anyway.. here’s my finishing zhuzh step by step.
