So looking forward to being present this weekend with my family The Museum of the Waxhaws

The Revolution had many faces—and every one has a story.

Next weekend, step into the Carolina backcountry as 1780 returns to the Waxhaws.

Join us for the Battle of the Waxhaws American Revolution Weekend at the Museum of the Waxhaws, where history comes alive through living history encampments, 18th-century trades, sutlers, artillery, cavalry, musket fire, and powerful stories from the men, women, families, soldiers, and communities who lived through the American Revolution.

This weekend is more than a battle reenactment—it is a chance to walk through the world of 1780, meet living historians, explore the museum grounds, and experience the sights and sounds of one of the fastest-growing American Revolution reenactment weekends in North Carolina.

Event Weekend:
Saturday, June 6 | 10 AM–4 PM
Sunday, June 7 | 10 AM–3 PM
Battle reenactment both days at 2 PM
Museum of the Waxhaws | Waxhaw, NC

Friday Night Tradition:

Silhouettes don't care if your reference photo is from 2026 or 1996 (or 1856, for that matter!)

This sweet little boy is all grown up now, but it wasn't too late for his mother to get his silhouette made for her to cherish!

I have a confession to make about this silhouette...

The first version I cut just didn’t capture her. And neither did the second! But we didn’t settle. We took a step back, gathered a few new photos for inspiration, combined favorite details, and worked together to figure out exactly what she needed.

And now—isn’t she the sweetest?! More importantly, now she looks like her... immediately recognizable to all who know and love her. 🤍

Most of the time, parents fall in love with the very first silhouette I cut. But every now and then, a portrait needs a little more time. And a timeless piece that’s going to hang on your wall forever is worth taking the extra time to get right. That’s my promise to you. 🫶

Watching my little customers grow up is a new joy that I am discovering as Scissors and Quill matures!

I really can't express how much it means to me when families come back to me again and again.

I have the absolute honor of making yearly silhouettes for this little man, and I just couldn't believe how much he had grown when I got his photos this spring!

Next year his mama will be getting two hand cut silhouettes for Mother's Day 🥹 and I'm already looking forward to the privilege.

Thank you all, so much, for trusting me to preserve your memories.🤍

I almost forgot to share this beautiful brother-sister set from one of my events this spring! 🤩

Next Sunday is Bereaved Mother’s Day.

Perhaps you’ve never heard of it before. I hadn’t either—until I was one.

Bereaved mothers are some of the bravest women I know.

Their motherhood did not end the day their child died. They will always be mothers, but now they face the immense challenge of being a mother to someone they cannot hold, snuggle, kiss, nourish, clean, instruct, play with, laugh with, or tuck into bed.

Theirs is a love that often feels like it has nowhere to go, when all it wants to do is pour itself out for the one who is so deeply missed.

No bereaved mother needs to be reminded of her child—she doesn’t forget. But I think many of them, like me, long for ways to bring the well of love in their hearts into something tangible they can touch, see, and treasure.

That is why I designed the forget-me-not ornaments for myself last year and, this year, brought them into paper form for a dear friend.

This Bereaved Mother’s Day, I would love to gift something from this collection to one of you. It doesn’t feel right to do a typical giveaway, so I’ve decided on a simple drawing instead.

If you love a bereaved mother—or are one yourself—and would like one of these, please send me a DM by Wednesday evening, and I will add you to the list for the drawing.

I wish I could place a forget-me-not into the hands of every one of you, but even if I cannot, I would still be honored to know your story and to pray for you.🤍
