Everyday driving home on 133 from work I look around and, almost a week later, am still stunned by the loss and destruction so many in our community faced. The power and ferocity of the storm are evident in the aftermath, and no one can deny that the tornado will be remembered for a long time to come. What is most amazing this week is watching our community respond with the same ferocity in acts of kindness, giving and helping. From the public servants called to their duty, the businesses offering equipment and services, and all of the individuals who spent their days clearing debris, cooking for volunteers, gathering donations and just getting out and doing what needed to be done. There is not a doubt in my mind that while the storm packed a punch, our town fought back.
I’ve had several requests for a Blair Strong tee and I hope that these can continue to inspire all of us to keep this astounding sense of community strong. Profits will be donated and if anyone has an amazing suggestion for a great organization we want to assure your donations go to help the people of Washington County rebuild.
