Throughout my journey of artistic expression my passion for color and texture has lured me to play with many mediums. Recently I have found that my creativity has unlimited possibilities by sculpting wool animals with a tiny barbed needle. My inspiration has always been fueled by the simplistic joys of days gone by, the softness of vintage fabrics and the no longer used prized possessions of famil
ies long ago. I try to combine my animals with some of these objects depicting life as though they had more humanlike characteristics. Mice sail the oceans blue in a baby’s well worn shoe while some await Santa napping in antique boxes with vintage bedding. Nature is also a perfect and very inspirational playground for my animals. Bunnies can be found perched on a leaf pondering over a hot cup of cocoa while another mouse is declaring himself king high atop a toadstool. However tempting, my work is designed for the collector and not suitable for young children. Most animals are suited with glass eyes and some are outfitted with polymer clay feet, beaks, teeth etc…… All are formed over a wire armature for some pose ability.
