So yesterday at our sale, I had an encounter with a young man that was leaving the highschool, I assume he was doing summer school. I saw him walking & something told me to call him over to the table. He reminded me so much of my middle son in his early teenage years, I told him that & told him he looked like he needed something to smile about. I told him he could pick out anything on our table for free except the $40 resin art. But he could have anything else, he grabbed a cross I had made from wax & as he started walking away I actually started crying and even now I can't figure out why. I made a post on Main Street Ottumwa 2, to see if I can locate this young man's parents to give him a resin cross that won't break. I'm truly hoping I am able to get in contact with them. My 2nd encounter was an elderly woman who came to our table and she was just in awe about the products & I asked her if she was Christian & she said yes, I gave her a small candle my brother had made that says "God Loves You" on it & she said that, that phrase is on her dad's headstone & she was so grateful for it. And again I cried lol we made a few sales yes but, giving is so much better than receiving! To make people smile or to brighten their day is WAY MORE valuable than ANY amount of money in this world. Even if I never make a single penny doing this, bringing smiles to people's faces is what matters most to me. I've never been good at comforting people very well, but even when people I know & love are going through a hard time or crying, I've always managed to get them to laugh and distract them from their situation. And that is something I truly enjoy doing.
