🍂 FALL MARKET SEASON IS HERE! 🍂

We’ve got just a handful of markets left for 2026, and we’d LOVE to see you out there! 🪵❤️

If you’ve been meaning to come check out Jake n’ Jill’s Woodshop, now’s the time! We’ll have lots of handmade favorites, new stuff constantly rotating in, and plenty of unique pieces you won’t find at the big-box stores.

And the best part? These markets are packed with hundreds of other amazing local vendors, makers & small businesses — so come make a day of it, shop small, support local, grab some food, listen to some music and find something you didn’t know you needed! 😉

Okay… we may have gotten a little carried away with the Halloween decor. 😂👻 But we’re not mad about it!

So we’ve been totally taking advantage of some free time lately and hitting up the Wheaton French Market on Saturday mornings… ya know, always trying to support local businesses 😉❤️

And first off… getting some fresh sourdough!!YUM! 😋

But let me tell you… I REALLY love cutting that sourdough on my awesome new cutting board with my tried-and-true bread knife. There’s just something special about using your own stuff… ya know?! 🤷‍♀️😉❤️

Walnut + Purple Heart — two of my absolute favorite woods! 👍

And honestly… fresh sourdough + a beautiful handmade cutting board + a good bread knife = pretty much the perfect Saturday morning. 🥖❤️

Fall Fest returns to Cantigny September 26 & 27, and we’ve got a weekend schedule perfect for all ages! Shop 60+ local vendors, wander through the gardens, catch live music, grab a bite from a food truck, meet some friendly farm animals, and let the kids loose on the bounce houses.

🪵❤️ LET’S TALK CUTTING BOARDS! ❤️🪵

Have you ever stopped to really look at a beautiful hardwood cutting board? The grain, the colors, the little differences in every piece… wood is pretty amazing! 🤎💜💛🧡

At Jake n’ Jill’s Woodshop, we hand-pick the hardwood for our cutting boards and turn each one into something completely unique. Every board is cut, shaped, sanded and finished by us — no two are exactly alike!
And yes… those colors are REAL! 😍

💜 Purple Heart — Yep, that really is purple wood!�🧡 Padauk — That gorgeous orange/red color comes naturally from the wood.�💛 Yellowheart — And that bright yellow? Completely natural!

We love combining different hardwoods because the natural grain and colors make every board a little work of art. 🌳✨

🪵 WHY HARDWOOD?

Hardwood cutting boards are durable, long-lasting and naturally beautiful. Unlike plastic, a quality hardwood board can be sanded and refinished, giving it a much longer life.

Wood also has natural antimicrobial properties, and properly cared-for hardwood makes an excellent surface for food preparation. The key is keeping your board clean, dry and properly conditioned.
And that's where our newest handmade product comes in… 👇

🐝 JAKE N’ JILL’S WOODSHOP WOOD WAX

We make our own wood wax using beeswax, food-grade mineral oil and carnauba wax. 🐝🌿

The mineral oil penetrates the wood to help keep it from drying and cracking, while the beeswax helps seal and protect the surface. Carnauba wax adds another layer of durability and gives your board that beautiful natural finish. ✨

Just rub a little on, let it sit for about 15–20 minutes, then buff off the excess. Easy! 👍

❤️ HAVE AN OLD CUTTING BOARD?
Don’t throw it out! 🙌

If you have an older hardwood cutting board that has seen better days — lots of knife marks, scratches, stains or just needs some TLC — reach out to us about having it refinished!

Over the years, we've really customized and perfected our sanding and refinishing process to bring old boards back to life and get them smooth, beautiful and ready to use again. 🪵✨

We love giving a good piece of wood a second life!

We also regularly make new cutting boards, so if you don't see the perfect one today… check back! We’re always adding new combinations, sizes and wood varieties. 😉

And if you need a custom size or a particular look, we can do that too!
