Hermia's Creations is a full-service sewing and quilting company. I am Cindy Lauterbach, and being creative with fabric is in my DNA. We can probably do it!

Just finished this cute quilt for a customer using onesies and other baby clothes. I even embroidered the kiddos’ names on it. Can you find them?

To my mom, who taught me so much and really prepared me for life. I have such fond memories of sewing together and tackling custom projects we had never tried before. Here’s a picture of she helping me make a mock-up wedding dress before we cut into the real fabric (I realize brown gingham is not the most fashionable, even 30 years ago). Miss her tons!

These quilts are custom-made with quality products, including 100% cotton fabrics, cotton batting, beautifully stitched quilting, and a suitable backing fabric of your choice (cotton, flannel, or super-soft plush fabric).

The options are endless! I haven’t posted for a while, so wanted to share a few projects that have been keeping me busy. This quilt was a vintage find that had never been completed. So I tackled it and was able to really flex some creativivity with custom designs. I entered it in the western Idaho fair and eons blue ribbon on its category. Took me several days to quilt, but I thrilled with the final result. Now what do I do with it? 🤪 🤷‍♀️

This was a fun challenge to custom quilt for a customer. She had a Indian-influenced elephant panel that she added batiks to make a fun quilt. I played off the Indian theme and free-motion quilted many fun motifs. Hope you like it!

Here is a group project quilt where each block is made by a different person. The blocks represent different flowers and use several different piecing and appliqué techniques. I was tasked to custom quilt it to enhance the flowers and show off everyone’s hard work. Each block was different, which made it fun to quilt.

I custom-quilted the sweetest hand-embroidered quilt last week. It is a labor of love by a mother for her mother. It depicts all the hard work mothers do but rarely get thanked for. To all mothers out there: “You are loved, appreciated, and treasured!” If your mother is still around, tell her how much she means to you.

This year I entered 3 quilts in the fair. I won 2 blue ribbons, a white ribbon, and a special award for “Best Visual Impact” for the purple and white quilt. I custom quilted that one, free motion. It took me about 5 days just to quilt it (not counting the hand embroidery) and I was so glad when it was finished! It was pretty popular at the fair and I’ve had a couple of offers to buy it. I’m already planning my next custom quilting project…. Stay tuned!

This is a wool appliqué fall-themed quilt made by a customer. She brought it to me for custom quilting to show off her beautiful appliqué work. I had fun meandering and looping on her quilt.
