This is Thomas Edison 💜 & he is dahlia #33.
He is…..AMAZING !!!
Dinner plate size blooms with decorative shape, and such a dominant shade of purple.
I hope that he produces a lot of tubers!! 😁

Dahlia #32 is a perfectly peachy decorative bloom with a splash of butter cream yellow.

This is Larks Ebbe
Her bloom is a nice 3” size & will grow almost 4’ tall by the end of the season. This dahlia might not be the 1st to bloom but once she gets started she produces a LOT of blooms!

She is a delicate upward facing bloom. Very sweet & easy to work with in arrangements & bouquets. Her stems are slim but strong. She grows to be about 4’ tall.

If you notice there is a very subtle touch of lemon lime color at her center. I think this makes her white petals stand out a little more. 😊

Dahlia Tip of the Day 😎
Disbudding

Seven years into growing Dahlia’s, this is easy for me now. Because I have seen the results of getting bigger blooms when you remove the side buds.

I’m not gonna lie the first few years it just felt wrong to remove buds when I wanted to see every single dahlia bloom in my garden!! 😁

As a flower farmer things have changed. My customers (florists, wedding/event planners, & retail clients) want and expect a big beautiful Dahlia blooms.

I do my best once a week to go through and dis bud my Dahlias. It’s easier when the Branch has small buds. It’s more emotionally challenging once the buds have grown a little larger & are about to bloom.
So just try to do this when the branching buds are smaller and not almost ready to bloom.

This is Doodle Bug!
She is a FUN, bright, & cheerful party all wrapped up into one very colorful ball shape.
Blooms are almost 3” wide & the plants stay under 4’ tall.

Golden Scepter is Dahlia #29

What a cheerful fall yellow!! Her blooms are on the smaller size coming in at a little more than 2 inches wide. She is a vigorous bloomer & has incredibly long stems. What a great accent color for arrangements & bouquets.
She grew almost 5’ tall for me last year.

The DIVA 🤩 has arrived & is Dahlia #28 in our collection.
She is a deep magenta raspberry bloom with layers upon layers of the softest velvety petals. She has a formal decorative shape, is a prolific bloomer, and grows to be almost 5’ tall for me.

A must have in my gardens! Florists & wedding/event designers LOVE her long vase life.

Let’s clean our snips & keep our dahlias healthy 🌸

Viruses from our soil & pests can attack our dahlias. One way we can protect our dahlias is to keep our tools or snips CLEAN in between harvesting different varieties.

Dahlia #27 is the Amazing KA Rosie Jo
Perfect cranberry orange/peach color combination!
This dahlia grew over 5’ tall for me last year.
Love this color🧡

I’m showing my Flower farmer fail because I did not support this dahlia before she got big & fell over🤦🏻‍♀️
Good news is the dahlia kept growing & is now ready to bloom & join our garden party! But she would have bloomed sooner if she didn’t have to regrow sideways. Totally my fault.
We live & learn when growing flowers! It’s a journey not a test to try to be perfect my friends.
