Looking for a sign to join Green Mountain Shawl KAL? Check out Shearing Day Shawl bundles featured on the Millcast and now on their website! You have plenty of time before to create your own perfect version, and there’s a prize thread in Ravelry for those attending AND unable to attend the festival. With interesting stitch patterns that are much simpler than they look, you won’t be bored. And if a neutral palette isn’t your jam, playing with color placement is fun too. Or, let the natural colors shine (and you might even see little “sheep” staring back at you in one section…wink, wink). Swipe for more photos!

Christopher Muther’s “head”line stopped me cold this morning. But instead of arguing that knitted beanies aren’t only fashionable on celebrities (lots to unpack there, Christopher), I’m going to challenge you to head over to the Cyclorama building on Sunday morning around 9:45 am where you’ll find a line of the most amazing people in the most amazing (subjectively speaking) knitted beanies. Maybe you won’t change your mind about their appearance, but maybe you’ll also find your next human interest story in a protest hat, a local designer, a cultural tradition carried on, wool from a New England farm…maybe you’ll expand your definition of what makes something beautiful or fashionable. And if you don’t, that’s ok too. We knitters love our people.

Serenity Cowl is a mindful knit. The stitch pattern is rhythmic and soothing. Let your yarn bring you joy from its color and feel, no matter what fiber you choose. I find connection using farm yarn, thinking of the sheep and shepherds that make it, and with my samples, of the plants and materials used in botanical dying. With guidance to use any weight yarn, you can adapt the heavy DK/light worsted pattern, use scraps, and get creative. Tester samples include a fi*****ng weight beauty that gives me Valentine vibes with its range of pinks and a heavy worsted version with blues and grays like the winter sky. What will you choose? Visit with me and check out options from or other vendors to build your own unique palette.
