The Catmint and the bearded iris are both in full bloom right now, and I just had to share! 😍

All that vibrant purple together is just gorgeous. Every time I walk by, I find myself stopping to look at it. The colors practically glow, and photos don't even do it justice.

Sometimes you spend so much time weeding, watering, and chasing pests that it's easy to miss these moments. Today I stopped for a minute and just enjoyed all that beautiful purple. 💜

And yes, for anyone who has been asking, I do have a few catmint plants available at the stand right now. 🌿

I'd love to see what's blooming in your gardens! Drop a photo in the comments and show off your favorite flowers.

Some of my favorite plants in the garden aren't necessarily the showiest ones. They're the ones covered in bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects all summer long!🍃🐝

• Yarrow🌸
Yarrow is one of the hardest-working plants in my garden. The flat flower clusters are like little landing pads for hoverflies, lacewings, ladybugs, and tiny parasitic wasps. It's also tough as nails, drought tolerant, and blooms for a long time.

• Snapdragons🪻
I love snapdragons, and apparently the bumblebees do too! Bumblebees are strong enough to pry open the "dragon's mouth" to get to the nectar inside. If you've never watched a bumblebee force its way into a snapdragon flower, you're missing out. 😂

• Red Valerian❤️
This plant is always buzzing with activity around here. Butterflies love it, bees love it, and it blooms for what feels like forever. It also doesn't seem to care much about poor soil or dry weather.

• Scabiosa (Pincushion Flower)🌸
This one is a pollinator favorite. Every time I walk by, there's something visiting the flowers. Bees, butterflies, hoverflies, you name it. Plus, it keeps blooming for months with very little fuss.

One thing I've learned is that attracting beneficial insects isn't about having one "magic" plant. It's about having lots of different flowers blooming throughout the season. The more variety you plant, the more life your garden will have.

The bees usually get all the credit, but some of my favorite garden helpers are hoverflies, lacewings, minute pirate bugs, ladybugs, and tiny parasitic wasps that most people never even notice.

What's a plant in your garden that's always covered in pollinators?🪻🐝

🌸 Bouquet season is getting closer, and I am so excited! 🌸

The dahlias are looking strong this year, and I finally have just over 100 plants in the ground! Seeing all those little plants growing and putting on size has me dreaming about armloads of blooms and buckets full of bouquets. 💐

There’s still a lot of growing season ahead, but so far they’re off to a great start. After everything the garden has thrown at us over the last couple of years, it feels good to see healthy, happy plants filling the beds again.

Now comes the hard part... waiting for flowers! 🤣🌿

🌿 I've been having fun finding different ways to use the corkscrew willow branches around the garden.

For this rose, I bundled a few branches together and let the rose climb through them. The twisting branches and deep red blooms look like they were meant to grow together.

I also stuck several branches into a large planter with a few flowers. I originally just wanted some height and interest, but they surprised me by leafing out this spring!

They're one of my favorite garden accents because they're useful, unique, and look good even when nothing else is blooming. Plus, every branch has its own weird personality. 😆

What would you do with corkscrew willow branches? 🌿💕

I don’t remember this happening in past years, but the honey bees have been absolutely obsessed with this laurel hedge lately. A few days before this video there were a handful of blooms on it, but by the time I took this video they were already spent.
After filming, I noticed the leaves were covered in pollen… and apparently the bees noticed too 😆 They’ve been all over this hedge for several days straight making sure not a bit of that pollen goes to waste.
Mike says, “maybe they’re dumb bees” 🤣 but honestly I’m starting to think they know something we don’t 🐝

Chrysoperla rufilabris — the ultimate garden ugly duckling turns into the swan 😆🤩

Those green lacewing larvae are not winning any beauty contests 😅 They look like tiny little garden monsters… but they turn into absolutely gorgeous lacewings.

Ironically, the adult lacewings don’t do a whole lot of pest control themselves — but they DO lay the eggs that hatch into those ugly little aphid-eating machines. And honestly? They’ve been doing a pretty solid job around here this year.

I’ve still had to cut some things back, but nowhere near the level of damage we dealt with last season. Between these bad boys and minute pirate bugs (which are TINY but somehow eat around 40 pests a day 🤯), the beneficial army is hard at work.

Nature is wild sometimes 🌿💚
