We may have taken the weekend off from baking, but we definitely didn’t take the weekend off from having fun! 🎃👻

We threw Kolby and a few of his friends a Halloween party, and as you can imagine, it was a whole lot of fun and chaos! 😂 This was Kolby’s first Halloween party, but I’ve thrown a few over the years for Karlie, so I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting myself into!

A huge thank you to Wendy from Sassy Cookies for making my life a little easier by putting together Halloween DIY cookie decorating kits for the kids! They were the perfect activity to bring the chaos down a notch when things started getting a little too loud. 🤣 The kids had so much fun decorating them, and their cookies turned out absolutely adorable! And the best part? I didn’t have to bake a single cookie! Because let’s be honest, as much as I bake, shaped sugar cookies are definitely NOT my specialty. 😂

And if you ever plan a Halloween party, one game I highly recommend is the mummy race! It has always been one of our favorites, and I swear everyone ends up laughing so hard. The kids have an absolute blast wrapping each other up in toilet paper! And the mess afterward? Well, that’s just another game! Who can pick up the most toilet paper? 🤣 A little competition makes cleanup a whole lot easier!

Sometimes it’s nice to put the baking aside for a weekend and just enjoy making memories with the kids. It was loud, chaotic, messy, and so much fun! ❤️

🎃 A Little Weekend Update!

We will not have any baked goods at the stand this weekend!

Last year, Halloween weekend was incredibly slow for us, so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to take a much-needed break!

Between working full-time, baking, and keeping up with everything else, little breaks don’t happen very often. So I’m taking advantage of this one! ❤️

The stand will still be open for anyone wanting to shop our gifts and other goodies from our wonderful vendors!

Apparently today is National Black Cat Day! 🐈‍⬛🖤

After losing our cat Milo earlier this year, I was absolutely dying for some kitty cuddles. ❤️ We finally decided to take a trip to the humane society to adopt ONE cat… and naturally, we came home with TWO. 🤦‍♀️😂

Meet Josie, our 2-year-old calico, and Stormy, who was just a 4-month-old little black kitten when we brought him home.

And let me tell you, Stormy definitely lives up to his name! 😆 This cat is WILD! There is never a dull moment with him around.

Here’s an adorable little video from when we first brought them home. 🥹❤️

We went looking for one cat to love and ended up with twice the love (and twice the chaos)! 🐾🖤

When you’re out of cinnamon buns and muffins from Riverside Whisk & Gifts, here’s a healthier make-ahead breakfast option! 🍎

As much as I love baking all the sweet treats, I also love finding easy, healthier options that I can prep ahead of time, especially for those busy mornings when I’m trying to get out the door!

Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats

Ingredients:

* ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
* ¾ cup yogurt (I use Oikos Triple Zero Vanilla Greek Yogurt)
* ½ cup milk of your choice (I use unsweetened almond milk)
* 1 tablespoon chia seeds
* 1 medium apple, diced
* 1 teaspoon cinnamon
* 1 packet Splenda (optional)

Directions:

1. Combine the oats, chia seeds, cinnamon, and Splenda in a bowl.
2. Stir in the yogurt and milk.
3. Add your diced apple and mix everything together.
4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
5. Enjoy cold straight from the fridge or warm it up in the microwave!

Last night, Karlie, a friend, Alex, and I headed to the Pittsford Haunted House, and we had such a great time! 👻🎃

Sometimes it’s nice to step away from the baking, prepping, and never-ending to-do list that comes with running a small business and just enjoy a fun night out!

I’m trying to make more time for little adventures like this, especially with how busy life gets. It was definitely a fun way to spend a Saturday night!
