When I first started my business, I did what many new makers do—I purchased designs from others and made small tweaks to fit my products. It was a safe place to begin, but if I'm being honest, I didn't fully trust myself yet. I didn't trust my own vision.

That changed when I finally stepped outside of my comfort zone and began creating artwork of my own.

As I worked on what would eventually become The Open Rein Collection™, I found myself thinking about a conversation I had a long time ago with one of the most wonderful couples I met at a vendor fair held on a working ranch (I was in love, because I got to pet and love on a LOT of horses too!).

She would regularly ask me if I had anything with a paint horse. I searched and searched, trying to find something that matched what I saw when I looked at her. She was beautiful—tall, blonde, strong, confident, and a cowgirl to her core. Her husband was equally unforgettable. Quiet, steady, kind, and strong, with a smile that could light up a room. As we talked, I could feel the love she had for her husband, her horse, and the life they had built together.

She became the spark that started this journey.

Then there was a young girl I met after we moved to Arizona. She reminded me of a young Brooke Shields; full brows, a bright smile, and a love for horses that seemed far beyond her years. She loved riding them, caring for them, and simply being around them. Her parents found me at that very same vendor event and purchased the only horse-themed item I had at the time, a mousepad.

It may have seemed like a small purchase, but in those early days, that support meant everything.

These two women were completely different generations, different lives, different stories. Yet they shared the same love for horses.

Their passion stayed with me.

Along the way, I was also blessed by a dear friend who trusted me enough to ride her horse, Dude. We formed a bond that surprised me. I still miss him dearly.

As I began creating these pieces, I realized The Open Rein Collection wasn't just about horses. It's about connection. Trust. Freedom. Partnership. It's about the people whose lives are forever changed by these incredible animals.

Every design in this collection is inspired by something I've experienced, someone I've met, or a story that touched my heart. The educational elements, the artwork, the research, and the details all come from a genuine desire to create something beautiful, meaningful, and useful.

I know not everyone who sees these pieces will recognize the hours of study, the thought process, or the stories woven into them.

But I hope the people who inspired them do.

And I hope those who love horses can feel it.

Life is beautiful. Inspiration is everywhere. And I feel incredibly blessed to be able to turn those moments into art.

There was something special about a farmhouse Sunday.

The roast simmering low and slow all afternoon.
Fresh rolls cooling on the counter.
The smell of gravy, buttered corn, and pie drifting through the house.

Nobody needed a text message to know dinner was almost ready.

They could smell it.

That's the inspiration behind **Farmhouse Tradition**, the second piece in the Heritage Sunday Supper Collection.

It's a tribute to the meals that weren't rushed. The recipes written on stained recipe cards. The kitchens where grandparents taught us that the secret ingredient wasn't hidden in a cookbook—it was patience, care, and sharing a meal with the people you love.

Because the best memories were never made around a screen.

They were made around a table.

As I work to upload all of my work on Etsy, I wanted to share this with all of you and a few photos. A why I started this little business, and as the path becomes clearer to me - the answers are too.

I never set out to create a collection of cutting boards.

I set out to create something useful.

As someone who loves the kitchen, I found myself constantly reaching for recipe books, handwritten notes, ingredient substitutions, cooking temperatures, and measurement equivalents. The information was always scattered. Useful, yes—but rarely beautiful.

I began wondering:

What if the things we use every day could also be art?

What if a cutting board could teach?

What if a kitchen tool could tell a story?

That simple idea became the beginning of The Art Of Collection.

The Art Of Collection was created to celebrate the skills, traditions, ingredients, and techniques that make a kitchen feel alive. From herbs and spices to bread, coffee, charcuterie, pasta, tea, seafood, baking, and more, each design combines practical kitchen knowledge with beautiful artwork. Measurement equivalents, cooking references, pairings, and culinary guides are thoughtfully woven into every piece, transforming everyday kitchen essentials into functional works of art.

What began as a way to make information more beautiful soon became something much more meaningful.

As I designed, I realized that food has a remarkable way of telling stories.

A loaf of bread is never just bread.

A pot of Sunday sauce is never just pasta.

A family recipe is never just ingredients.

Behind every meal is a memory, a tradition, a gathering, or a person we love.

Those discoveries led me to create the Heritage Sunday Supper Collection.

While The Art Of Collection celebrates the craft of cooking, the Heritage Collection celebrates the people who gather around the table.

Each board in the Heritage Sunday Supper Collection honors a different tradition. Some celebrate family recipes passed through generations. Others honor cultural traditions, community gatherings, and shared meals among friends. Together they tell a story of connection, hospitality, and belonging.

From Soul Food Tradition and Farmhouse Tradition to Sunday Sauce Tradition and The Potluck of Friends, every design was created with one purpose:

To preserve the moments that matter.

Throughout this journey, I discovered something unexpected.

The food was never the star.

The people were.

The laughter around the table.
The recipes written in fading ink.
The dishes requested year after year.
The memories that remain long after the meal is finished.

At Moth – A Nova Design Co., every piece is designed to be both useful and beautiful. I believe our homes should be filled with objects that serve a purpose while also telling a story. Whether it is a cutting board, towel, doormat, or piece of home décor, my goal is to create functional art that becomes part of your family's traditions.

The Art Of Collection teaches us how.

Our Etsy store is live! Let me explain what we are doing and our focus as we move forward. Please know that I have spent MONTHS building a product line around what I have always envisioned we would be.

We would be nothing without a loyal following and amazing customers like you. Thank you so much for your support, your love of my work, and for always purchasing what inspires you.

That is ALL I ever wanted. To create something that makes your heart sing, to bring you joy. To make you smile. For you to use and think - not of me - but... I am so happy I found this!

We have been building it out for a while, and plan on creating both a curated market experience as well as a well rounded customer service experience for you.

We are also developing our relationships with vendor markets. We do not belong in every market every where. While we remain grateful for every market we have been invited to, it is time we build in markets that have the customer base we are seeking. We are a brand and an idea of the beauty of the kitchen where friends and family gather, and the door where you invite those into your home.

That being said - We have an amazing relationship with Manny and Bonnie of and plan on continuing that. The Desert Diamond Casino customers have been our most loyal and we are so thankful for all of the custom work we have earned from them! They will remain our mainstay as long as they will have us. We are proud to have earned our spot with them... Thanks to YOU.

We will announce other markets as they come along and fit what we are seeking. Please know that we are small. It is a tiny family of three working this business, with me at the helm of the creative juices, my husband building out vendor displays and my son running our Instagram... It is slow coming. But I can promise you - What is coming will be amazing.

Two of my designs created for our amazing event that every human alive will NOT see again are up - America's 250th Birthday are up. There is more to come... Plus some other designs that I have created as well are up. What you have come to love - horses, cowgirls, roosters, and homesteading are out.

I have so many more that I will be loading.
