Grout chipping and flaking!

I recently had a person come in to fix my grout under new home warranty. It was chipped prior to the new grout. A couple weeks have gone by and now it's happening again. Running my fingernail through the grout gave me the pile in the photo. What would cause this?

Does tile lose gloss with time?
Curious question - not sure if you can tell or not but we got some new tile and it is brighter than the older ones around - but will the newer tile eventually lose its gloss and be like the older tiles?

Flooring guy did this. What would you do?

I had a flooring guy cut out some engineered wood boards that were damaged and replace them. The original floor was glued to concrete and the floor was flat. The photo shows new planks mixed in with the old. When I sat on the floor and saw how the newly inserted boards looked, I was disappointed.

Is this acceptable? What would you do in this situation?

Can someone please help?

We live on base housing and our carpet is RANK. we decided to pull up the carpet and put down laminate ourselves but we suck. I just can't get it to stick properly together, notice the slight gaps? What are we doing so wrong? We have all of the tools, there's an underlay underneath. I've asked around for professionals but they want over $850 and we just don't have that kind of money.

How to fill gaps in fake wood floor?

Whoever installed this floor seemingly intentionally left these gaps between the tiles (or whatever they're called) and it's ugly and traps dirt and stuff. Is there some sort of sealant or caulk-like substance i could use to fill the gaps like grout would do for real tiles? Obviously it would need to be somewhat flexible and not rigid like grout, and would need to be available in a color that would go well with the color of the floor.

What are these cracks/bumps in LVP?

I bought my house 3 years ago, fully renovated from a professional flipper.

Shortly after I moved in, I started noticing small circular bumps coming from the floors, then eventually, the bumps started cracking. The corners of the planks are breaking off as well. I do notice that the areas where the corners are damaged, when you step on it, you can hear a squeaking noise. Like you can move the planks up and down.

They’re scattered all around my house (hallway, kitchen, dining, living room), so it’s not just one area.

These were not on the floor during the inspection or at move-in. They slowly started showing up after moving in.

As of now, there’s at least 7+ areas where it’s cracked or have bumps.

Does anyone know what the possible cause of this could be? Is there an easy way to fix these? Or do I eventually just need to get all new flooring?

I'm in the middle of tearing up some old flooring. Underneath the wood underlayment, I found these fiberboard panels covered in a dark, speckled residue that has completely dried out and feels/crumbles almost like coarse sand. Does anyone know what this black, sand-like material is?

Advice before staining!

My back porch is 2 years old, and we’re finally going to stain it. We cleaned it, and I tried doing some sanding. I wanted to get some of the rough places before staining. (Using an orbital sander with 60 grit) As the pictures may make clear, I have never done this before. I was just giving it a try and hoping for the best. 🥲

The porch does not have to be perfect, but I’d appreciate some advice so it doesn’t look straight up terrible. How bad is my sanding? Do I keep going with the 60 grit? Then 80? Or better suggestion? Do I need to use some wood conditioner/wood prep? Will that help a lot?

I purchased Valspar semi transparent in Hot Chocolate. I like seeing some of the wood grain, but now I’m wondering if that was a bad idea?..

Thank you!

Alternative to finish floor!
We used Total Basement Finishing product - Thermal Dry Elite flooring in Walnut. We had several boxes left over from a previous install. I di not want to waste the material. We were trying to use them in a utility room in the basement , unfortunately we are short by about 2 boxes. I have a small section that is unfinished and I am trying to figure out how to finish it. Any ideas?
