STORYROOM SPOTLIGHT: Meet the Royal Cats!

This week’s StoryRoom Spotlight is one of the wonderfully whimsical Royal Cats Wall Portraits by artist Carol Lew-part of her Old World Pet Portrait collection.

Carol Lew’s inspiration is rooted in the traditional of classic historical portraiture, where subjects are treated with dignity, elegance, and importance. Her delightful twist? She gives that same royal treatment to our four-legged friends.

Carol Lew is still actively associated with Old World Pet Portraits, and her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums, including a 2020 exhibit In Paris.

There are several different Royal Cat Portraits in the collection, each with its own personality and unmistakable sense of importance. Our particular gentleman certainly looks as though he has a kingdom to oversee 👑✨

There’s just something magical about Blenko! ❤️💙💚

Known for its bold colors, sculptural shapes, and hand-blown craftsmanship, Blenko glass has been creating American-made glass since 1893. The company made its home in Milton, West Virginia, in 1921, where that beautiful tradition continues today.

✨STORYROOM SPOTLIGHT✨

This week’s featured find: An Antique Industrial Adjustable Oak Drafting Stool

Long before adjustable office chairs became commonplace, drafting stools were designed for architects, artists, draftsmen, and other craftspeople who worked at elevated drawing tables. The ability to adjust the seat height allowed the worker to find the right position for a taller work surface while the circular footrest provided support during long hours of work.

This style of industrial stool became part of the working world during the late 19th and early 20th centuries-a time when furniture was built to be functional, durable and meant to last.

And this one definitely tells that story 🤎

We think it would be just as fabulous today tucked in to a studio, office, workshop, kitchen island, or creative space
