Welcome to my page. My name is Kelley Vernor Shults. This cookbook was compiled in memory of my dear, sweet Mother, Gloria Faye Wallace Vernor. She was a wonderful cook, and me being the only girl until I was almost 20 years old. I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with her, watching and learning. Cooking was something she really enjoyed doing, and took great pride in. A lot of her recipes were ones she just made up herself by just knowing what people liked and what tasted good together. Unfortunately, my Mother, passed away in 1984 at the very young age of 44. She was, and always will be my hero. I still get calls all the time from people all over wanting to know if I could send them her recipes for different things they had eaten at our house over the years. She always said that good food the key to Peace and Harmony, because good food brings good people together. It keeps your husband happy, your children close, your neighbors nice, your kinfolk kind and your friends friendly. Mom also always said that cooking for people was like giving them a big hug, and watching them enjoy it was like getting an even bigger hug back. When kinfolks came to town, we always got to see them all because they always knew Gloria Faye would have a big meal ready for them when she found out they were coming. I am so blessed to have had her joy of cooking passed down to me, and even more blessed to be able to put it all together in this cookbook and pass it on to each and every one of you. I know my Mom would be so proud knowing that the sharing of her wonderful meals will continue on. I hope this book brings you all as much joy as it has brought me.
