My Happy Place

“My Happy Place” was designed for the whimsical and good natured. Painted with an assortment of wildflowers this piece features an array of textures, heights, and blooms for the perfect fresh-picked look. An earthy feel, a gorgeous bouquet fresh for a one-of-a-kind reflection.

This artwork "My Happy Place" mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas, is inspired from my affirmation word for 2023, love, and my decision to investigate the concept of the word with the commitment to make personal change, so to grow more as a loving human. I have a lifelong “love” of flowers and appreciate the symbolism of all things around flowers and flora, so flowers became my subject of choice to represent my investigation into love for 2023. I chose vases of flowers, to acknowledge my personal choice to buy flowers for myself as a gift to self. So often, people wait to do things for themselves or expect others to do for them. This is especially true of receiving flowers. I give myself flowers often as a way of sharing with myself that I value me.

“My Happy Place” with fish in the vase, to me, represents the idea of happiness as a choice. I have a great fondness for water and thought the fish would be a fun way to present the concept that I can be happy in my “space” wherever I chose to swim.

Each original mixed media artwork in the “Ballerina Series” is 8” x 10” mixed media, watercolor and ink designed with the idea of capturing the hopes and dreams of those who dare to imagine and strive to succeed despite obstacles of their respective surroundings. The element of fluidity captures the essence of water in its power, its motion, its vulnerability; that embody femininity. Each dancer flows with supreme skill and graceful fluidity. As with life, the artwork tactical considerations change rapidly giving voice to the fluidity of the young woman's world coupled with her hopes and dreams of her future.
