I would like to talk about the Carr Park Artisans shop and the soon to be implemented tariffs.
My question to you is: Would you pay more for all of the products as I bring in more stock? Or, should I wait and see what happens over the next 1-2 months regarding tariffs which I must pay to bring in products.
About 98% of everything in the shop is imported either as a material for me to dye or a final dyed product such as the merino wools. About the only thing not imported is the angelina and mohair locks which I get from Texas and then dye in the shop. But even then the dyes are purchased from an american company but the ingredients and color pigments are imported by them.
I work with 4 different mills in other countries to produce the 150+ wool colors. I purchase all of the silks from both India and China.
At this time I am not aware of any large mills that process fleece from raw to dyed top that are in the USA. There are many small mills in the US but they don't source the wools, I have to send them the raw fleece purchased from farms and ship it to them. Then I must purchase at retail their services. And even then it will not be dyed.
The warps that I dye all start at a mill which creates the thread. The cotton/tencel/bamboo, etc are all created in other countries. I purchase large orders of huge cones as my raw product for the warps. These will also go up in price depending on the countries they are coming from.
With all of this turmoil it is a difficult decision to wait or continue to purchase items at higher prices.
Meanwhile I have a good supply of almost everything. A few colors are running low or are sold out.
I would love your input!
Christine :)
