You really never know where one unexpected encounter might lead.

One day, a man pulled up to Laura Brehmer's business with his little dog—because somehow, he thought she did dog grooming. 😂

She didn't.

But he quickly noticed all of Laura's vintage clothing and mentioned that his daughter worked in costuming and was looking for pieces for a film.

That chance encounter turned into a roughly $3,000 sale—and something much bigger.

Laura says the costumer kept calling, and over the next 20 years or so, she went on to provide vintage clothing for around 30 movie productions.

All because someone stopped at the wrong business.

Yes... THAT Titanic. 🎬

Laura Brehmer has sold vintage clothing to movie stars and film productions over the years, but Titanic was probably the biggest.

Laura had spent years collecting Victorian clothing—nightgowns, undergarments, coats and other period pieces. When the movie needed clothing for some of the people in the dock and steerage scenes, pieces from her collection helped fill the need.

She even had a few dresses used on supporting performers in the film.

Laura is quick to clarify that she wasn't on set and didn't create the costumes—she was a vintage costume provider.

Still, it's pretty incredible to know pieces she collected became a tiny part of movie history.

My clients wanted an updated look for the staircase and I excepted the challenge! My design of the railing was brought to fruition by Paul DuMond of
Fishingcreek Forge, M & M Carpet One Floor & Home, Josh Robbins doing the bindings, and Chad Price's installation. Thanks to all.

Apparently, Dena has been handing out homework. 😂

As Episode 8 wraps up, Chad points out that his room still isn't finished.

Dena's response?

There might be a reason for that. He still has some homework to do.

Looks like these two have plenty more to talk about—and Chad may have some explaining to do next time.
