There are some things you expect to find every year at the Tri-County Fairgrounds.

The Fairgrounds Mercantile has gathered five of the midway's sweetest traditions into a collection of officially issued zipper pouches—each designed to feel like something you might have picked up on your way home from a day at the fair.

Everyone deserves a journal that gets them.

Not one that tries to be everything for everyone—but one that feels like it was made with your interests in mind.

This stack represents months of ideas that somehow became real.

One started as a national recreation area. Another became a mysterious government department. Then came a community Shakespeare festival, an old movie theater, and a county fair recipe collection.

I love creating things that feel like they've been discovered instead of designed—objects that hint at histories, traditions, and places that invite you to imagine the rest of the story.

There are places that quietly leave their mark long after you've gone home.

Blackwater Ridge is one of them.

Its gift shop is filled with the kinds of things visitors tuck into their bags before heading back down the trail—a field journal for future walks, a canvas tote that carries the day's discoveries, and a Raven Watch shirt commemorating one of the recreation area's favorite autumn traditions.

Not souvenirs.

Just small reminders of a place worth returning to.

I thought it might be time to introduce the person behind all of the strange little places that keep showing up here.

Hi—I'm Heather.

I'm the designer behind That's So Kitsch, and I spend an unreasonable amount of time thinking about things like county fair traditions, forgotten organizations, museum gift shops, vintage typography, and whether a shirt feels like something someone would have proudly worn home thirty years ago.

Every design starts as a place, a tradition, or an artifact before it ever becomes a T-shirt.
