Today, I made a mistake…

I was making body butter when I accidentally added jojoba pearls to my mixture. Jojoba pearls are awesome! But they don’t go in products that you can’t rinse off… So, I pivoted 🤷🏼‍♀️

I whipped up some body wash and started mixing the two together. After adding some extra stearic acid, I started to get this lighter-than-air bath foam. It was so FLUFFY! I immediately knew if I could get the mixture right, it could be super fun AND great for skin.

So, here it is. Today’s “big mistake”. After kicking a few names around, I settled on Bath Frosting, because it really does feel like you’re bathing in whipped frosting 😍 Since this is sort of a “test” product, I’m only releasing 3 scents right now. Each scent is based on a favorite Summer Disney memory…

Next weekend we will be hosting a fundraiser for our Central Florida seniors in need.

Silver Gala, which is made up entirely of volunteers, is hosting this fun event, where everyone will get to make 2 body scrubs and 1 candle. The products and proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the seniors in Central Florida who would otherwise go without holiday and birthday gifts.

We’ve been picked to move on to next steps with Walmart!

For those who don’t know, we were invited to apply to Walmart’s Road to Open Call. This is a chance for small businesses across the US to showcase their products for a chance to be placed in Walmart stores. We will have 2 meetings this month; one this week, and an in-person pitch on May 21st.

First, I am SO excited to have been selected to move forward. In order to appeal to a broad spectrum of customers, I quickly rebranded (or retro-branded) some of our scents. This meant leaning into the original concept of Traveler’s Apothecary; scents and experiences inspired by travel. So if we ARE selected, you’ll see scents like Island Pineapple, Boardwalk Slushie, and Coconut Coast.

Second, even if we don’t get past the executive pitch, it’s a big step for small businesses who focus on natural, scratch-made products. The word “natural” isn’t policed by the FDA, so it gets thrown around A LOT. It’s almost a full time job just meticulously researching products, brands, labels, and chemical isolates to make sure we’re doing things “the right way”. Just bringing this to the attention of big box stores is a win.

So here we are… Raising the bar for self-care. Clean, conscious, and crafted with the experience in mind. I hope you’ll join me in bringing intention into everyday routines and spaces ☺️💙💛

It will never stop feeling surreal to see my giant face on screens like these. Truthfully, I still don’t feel like I belong in these rooms most days. But moments like this remind me just how thankful I am for the incredible partners, customers, and community who make them possible.

This week for , I had the opportunity to partner with Experience Kissimmee, Florida, Help Now of Osceola, and MPI Greater Orlando Area Chapter to create a fun CSR experience with REAL impact. Together, we made 200 body scrubs that will be donated to survivors of domestic abuse.

Sometimes the smallest comforts can mean the most. A routine, a moment of care, a little luxury that helps life feel normal again... It’s easy to overlook those things when we have them every day, but for someone rebuilding their life, they can make all the difference.

I’m incredibly grateful to use Traveler’s Apothecary in ways that go beyond fragrance and theme parks. Creating experiences that bring people together while giving back to others in meaningful ways is a big deal for us. We love helping. We love doing. We love making an impact. Thank you all for your support 💙💛

I'm genuinely looking for feedback on the subject of AI. I have seen so many small businesses getting bashed lately for using AI in their posts and advertising. So here's what I'd like to know...

I use Canva for all of my designs (including the one here). It takes me ages to plug in photos, set backgrounds, etc. Canva recently started offering a tool called "Magic Media". It's essentially an AI prompt where you tell it what elements you'd like in your design. From there you can refine the design, put your own captions on it, use your usual creativity, etc. It takes a while, but I think the result is worth it. Do you consider this application of "Magic Media" AI? Would you bash a small business for using it?

I don't want to see graphic designers, photographers, and other creative people lose their jobs. Maybe someday that could be a reality, but at this point, a human isn't replaceable. So I'm wondering, specifically for the people that I constantly see hating on businesses for using AI, where do you draw the line?
