Arbor Design Advice

Arbor Design Advice Arbor Design Advice pairs homeowners with a design question with three designers that match the homeowners' style goals. This is why I'm starting Arbor.

Designers can accept / deny each question, and make money on each question they accept. I started Arbor Design Advice based on something that I needed, but couldn't find anywhere: Professional interior design advice on individual questions, that I could get an answer to within 1 - 2 days. I wished I had an interior designer who knew my style, and I could text one-off questions to! My Story:
In Oc

tober 2021, we had an overnight flood that completely destroyed our newly purchased home. My family was displaced for over a year and we decided to turn lemons into lemonade by going beyond restoration and remodeling it to become our dream home. As we figured out how to proceed, my husband and I struggled to make design and architectural decisions with confidence. We hired an interior designer, who was amazing, but I struggled to find an efficient relationship with her since our timelines were constantly in flux between our builder, insurance reviews, sub-contractors, etc. Often, I had an urgent question that I wanted to get right, but needed an answer to within 2 - 3 days rather than weeks or months. I know many homeowners want expert guidance, but struggle to figure out where to start, and how to spend their budget efficiently between design expertise and materials. I want to help homeowners source design feedback on specific topics as they surface -- which would have been incredibly
helpful to me this past year. I also want to help designers build their network of potential clients through micro engagements that also drive remote, incremental income for just sharing your advice.

Things I love this August:

- a white button down tied over a white dress with a straw hat. This shirt is James P***e and I swear they have the best basic button downs. I have the same one in 3 colors and have been wearing this brand for over a decade. 10/10.

- paint colors delft blue and Raleigh Peach by Sherwin Williams. I used the blue in our pantry and peach in my office - no regrets! Sherwin-Williams

- my homemade ice cream 🍦

- cotton candy sunsets, which are my constant design inspo (glowy sunbacked clouds + pink + blue is literal heaven). Like this rug, I used in my son’s nursery.

- Polkadot vintage + loose fitting maxi. There is something SO MUCH MORE chic to me to be in a loose dress than a skin tight one. I live in this dress, it lets air flow (critical in August), and I can actually move without worrying about underwear lines, rolls or.. whatever showing 💀 this one is vintage from my mom by White House Black Market

- last: Arbor, of course. A marketplace connecting designers with homeowners for adhoc feedback sessions on your home. What I wanted when my whole house flooded, link in bio ✨💕🌊

Don’t talk to me about sweater weather until October.

If summer could last all year I would be down for it. It’s not just the weather. It’s the flowers that are ready to be cut, excuses to make more ice cream — and eating it with friends. The chubby baby feet smushing in the sand and finding surprises in town like random bubbles pouring into the street.

I’m in summer bliss over here in Rehoboth - what is your favorite beach? 👙☀️🌊

We rebuilt our entire house from scratch just a year after becoming homeowners because a central upstairs toilet flooded.

We were swirling in the chaos with a 1 & 3yo, barely even sure who to call. Once we got to the building stage, we realized we were missing a ton of information that would inform how we’d need our spaces to function. In this case. Our closets.

How much space did we need to be single tall rod, versus double hanger for him, for her? This could have been measured before we left but we had no idea we’d need it and were … V DISTRACTED.

So, I’m telling you in case you have plans for a remodel down the line - pull together a spreadsheet with this info ahead of time so you have it when you need it, and youre potentially away from all your stuff.

I wrote my take on what to prepare before a big remodel - full of the lessons I learned through our full flood, from hiring the right team to staying organized at start middle and end. Comment GUIDE if you want to check it out and I’d be happy to share (free 😘)

Which partner are you? Also don’t hate bc this is how works of ART get done 😜

I showed this to hubs and said, what do you think? He slow rolled, “…this is a little too close to home…” and walked away muttering… “and was that your dad’s shirt and hat?” 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes. In fact it IS. and No, I do not know the price of an all brick privacy wall. But let’s go build it 🚀

Happy birthday month my fellow Leo’s! And also. How do ppl do a serious OOTD 😂

Inspired by the 90s edition : Matilda’s Ms Honey. Polka dots are having a moment, so I layered a white tee under the dress and added a pop of red with this vintage purse my phone barely fits in. I hate that vintage purses never fit my phone 🙈
