FAMILY DINING

For a while, dining tables were smaller or completely non existent. In recent years we get more requests for larger tables like this one we recently installed that will seat the whole family. I’m happy to see this trend.

While growing up we had family dinners that could include uncles, aunts, grandparents, even our pastor. Strangers who later became friends and part of the fabric of my life frequently joined my parents’ hospitality table featuring my mother’s great cooking.

Our favorite part was always the conversation and stories that lasted long after the meal was finished.

My goal, as your designer, is to create a space for your family to create memories and tell their stories.

When summer softens and the crispness of autumn is not quite here, we get to enjoy a gift called September.

I have always loved this photo, taken by , after KCI furnished the outdoor living spaces at a lovely client’s sprawling house at the Point, Lake Norman NC. From my perspective it is a visual epitome of September. The end of summer looking into upcoming autumn.

This is typically the time of year most of us come inside from playing outside and shift our focus to the inside living spaces of our homes. I love these cycles of life and the cycles of my business flow it provides.

Currently on our design tables some remodeling projects are underway which will not be completed until spring of next year. And so it goes with most projects. But putting your most hospitable foot forward can still be done before the holidays.

I have some ideas and will be sharing them over the next few weeks. In the meantime I wish you happy, calm, end of summer days full of all the people and places you enjoy most.
