It's not often we share a client review, but this one is too special not to.

Elise trusted us with her home library from the very first paint chip to the last book on the shelf — and reading her words back means more than she probably knows.

Thank you, Elise. Moments like this are why we do this work.

A room you use every day deserves thoughtful design.

Here, a mosaic tile inset creates the effect of a rug, furniture-style detailing gives the vanity character, and a pocket door leaves more room for the tub.

Classic details, carefully considered, make this bathroom feel right at home in the South.

Small spaces deserve just as much care as the larger ones. See the full project on our website — https://hensonhinckdesigns.com/portfolio/fortwood

Watching the Walnut Street Bridge come back to life this week brought us right back to this project.

With floor-to-ceiling windows framing the river, the bridge, and the hills beyond, we chose furnishings that complement the view and keep it the focus.

Sometimes, the most thoughtful design decision is knowing what to let shine.

Here, it’s Chattanooga.

Two ways to look at the same room.

You might picture fresh flowers on the counter or drinks being poured before a party. We picture those moments, too, while working through ceiling heights, plumbing locations, and the curve of an archway that brings it all together.

Months of planning go into making a room feel effortless.

And if you never give that doorway’s radius a second thought, we’ve done our job.

Some of our favorite decisions in a project are the smallest ones.

Across these kitchens and baths, the through-line isn't a single finish- it's intention.

Some of our favorite design decisions are in the details.

Across these kitchens and baths, each faucet was chosen for how it looks, how it feels in hand, and how it works day to day.

The curve of a spout. The shape of a handle. A finish that complements the surrounding materials. Small choices that bring character to a space and make everyday routines a little more beautiful.

A look at the work before the finished shot.

This commercial project in downtown Chattanooga offers a glimpse into another side of Henson-Hinck Designs. While many know us for residential interiors, our work extends to commercial spaces, too.

At this stage, you’ll find us walking the site, reviewing framing, and checking drawings against what’s taking shape among the exposed studs and ductwork. Each visit helps us work through details that will shape how the space looks, feels, and functions.

The finished photographs tell one part of the story. This is where much of that story begins.

One of the most rewarding parts of the design process is working with pieces that already have meaning to our clients.

For this lounge, the homeowners' existing artwork became the foundation for the entire design. Rather than treating it as something to hang on the wall simply, we used it to guide the furniture plan and establish the room's focal point.

The chandelier was carefully aligned with the artwork, the custom bench created visual balance below it, the lounge chairs were arranged to encourage conversation without interrupting circulation, and the drapery helped frame the space while adding softness and scale.

This is what our core value of Intentionality looks like in practice. Every decision serves a purpose, and every element contributes to the room as a whole.

A kitchen doesn’t have to make a statement to make an impression.

Here, warm white cabinetry, unlacquered brass, soft tile, and a substantial range come together in a way that feels collected rather than overly designed.

Nothing is competing for attention. Each detail simply supports the next.

The goal was never to create a kitchen that felt “of the moment.” It was to create one that would feel just as good years from now as it did on the day it was finished.

Some of the best seasonal transitions happen with a few thoughtful changes rather than a complete refresh.

This time of year, we like to focus on texture, color, lighting, and the small details that make a home feel ready for the season ahead—while keeping the foundation timeless.
