When we were growing up , our cafeteria had good food. No pizza, no hamburger, only beans mashed potatoes, carrots , peas, corn , and a roll. To get a sweet, you had to eat everything on you plate. I saw the boys hide peas in napkins & place in a milk carton. During lunch you had to be careful of flying food( peas beans, corn). I got see alot of fellows get paddled during my day. lunch was always interesting. There was a sweet that particularly created this behavior. Peanut butter candy caused more trouble than anything in my second grade class. My teacher made us afraid to misbehave, but I loved her . Here is the recipe for the candy that caused more trouble than a boxing match.
Rolled Peanut Butter Candy:
Ingredients:
1 cup powdered sugar, plus more for coating
1 3/4 cups powdered milk
1 cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 teaspoon salt, optional
powdered sugar, garnish
Preparation
In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar, powdered milk, and salt together, then set aside.
Combine your honey and peanut butter in a large bowl or mixer and cream together for 3-4 minutes, or until fluffy and smooth.
Gradually add in dry ingredients, beating until dough comes together, then knead dough with your hands until smooth.
Divide dough in half and roll into two, even logs. Wrap each log tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours, or until chilled.
Once chilled, slice logs into 1/4-inch slices and coat each one in powdered sugar. Enjoy
