LIFE IN HAMPTON ROADS SUNDAY
YOU KNOW YOU LIVE IN HAMPTON ROADS WHEN…
You check the weather before getting dressed and somehow still choose wrong.
You hear a jet overhead and don’t even look up.
You know “the Beach” is a city, not necessarily a plan to actually sit on the beach.
You’ve been late because of a bridge, a tunnel, a train, a ship… or some combination of the four.
You can be in the country, the city, on the water or standing barefoot in the sand — sometimes within the same afternoon.
You have very strong opinions about which grocery store location is “the good one.”
You know somebody in the Navy.
Or you’re married to somebody in the Navy.
Or you were in the Navy.
Or your neighbor is in the Navy.
Basically… there’s Navy. 😂
And somewhere along the way, all of these weird little things stop seeming weird.
They just become home.
That’s one of my favorite things about Hampton Roads. We’re not one perfectly packaged city with one personality.
We’re a whole collection of communities, waterways, neighborhoods, military families, lifelong locals and people who came here because of a set of orders — and somehow decided to stay.
Hampton Roads is a little complicated. A little quirky. And pretty darn easy to love once you know it.
What would YOU add to the list?
