14-year-old Faizan Zaki just made history.
Wednesday night, he won the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee after spelling 32 words correctly in 90 seconds during the final “spell-off” round. Zero mistakes.
The winning word? Bromocriptine – a drug used to treat Parkinson’s disease.
He beat 242 other top spellers from across the U.S. to take home the Scripps Cup and $52,500 in cash.
Faizan was actually the runner-up last year after he rushed his final word. This year, he came back and didn’t miss a single letter.
This is what dedication looks like. At 14 years old.
