Not sure if all of these spaces count as “rooms” but I do love a good warming kitchen, keeping room and vestibule. And don’t forget the (with)drawing room…
Walk into a modern home, and everything is “open concept.”

Blushing a little over here… a new client just called and said he found us because AI said we’re “the best paint color consultant around.” I admit to giving AI the side eye sometimes, but I do appreciate when it gets things right. ☺️ Thanks, AI!

It’s time for a game! Let’s play Spot the AI. Sure, the floor could be a vinyl photorealistic mural with epoxy over the top… but then there’s a few other telltale signs. See if you can spot them.
So amazing 🤩😍

One author's perspective on the search for the perfect white. If you're behind the NYT paywall, here are the takeaways (advice I regularly give so thank you NYT for the validation: 1) color is context, 2) don't go sample-crazy ON your walls - bring in paper swatches or paint onto moveable posterboard, 3) choose color in the home, not in the store and 4) if you're stumped, bring in a color expert to help!
The neutral can be very colorful, a homeowner learned the hard way. Take our quiz to see if you can tell the difference between shades.

Just created this mural for our client’s powder room. Our client wanted a star-themed, celestial feel, without looking like a child’s room. 🤩 I added a glittery effect to the deep dark blue (subtle glints of light twinkle from the walls as you move) and used a splatter technique in metallic gold to create multiple galaxies swirling throughout the room. ⭐️ 💫 ✨

A little Q&A with Dawn about Eye to Eye Interiors, LLC plus a bonus tip on choosing paint colors...
So, how did you start out in this business? Back in the summer of 2007, my husband and I put our condo up for sale. Everyone was selling and competition was fierce. The economy was bulging at the seams and our condo sat for 80 long days on the market. We were getting nervous.
It was my mom who first told me about staging and redesign. I took a course and immediately applied the concepts I had learned, redesigning my own place. Ten days later, we sold at asking price.
After that sale, I was hooked. Family members let me practice on their homes. I studied at the Midwest Staging & Redesign Institute, worked with a mentor and learned on-the-job. Before long, Eye to Eye Interiors, LLC was born.
How has Eye to Eye evolved since 2007? These days, I’m doing a lot more designing than staging, but because of my background in redesign, I typically approach a project with the mindset that I’ll work with pieces already in place. The things you don’t want to (or can’t) part with. Unless, of course, the idea is to start from scratch - it’s really fun to start from scratch!
What’s your favorite room to design? That’s a tough one, but I’d have to say it’s the bedroom. Kids, master, guest - a bedroom is such a personal space, so we can get really creative and turn the room into something amazing, whether it’s around a theme for the kids or creating a haven, an escape for the adults. In the end, designing a room is all about how you want a space to feel. It’s amazing what even just a new paint color can do to change the feel of a room.
What’s your best advice for someone trying to pick out a simple paint color and they’re feeling stuck? Yup, picking out paint color can be a chore. There are so many choices out there and it can boggle the mind. We also live in a world where everything on Pinterest looks perfect - so why doesn’t that color look perfect in my home? My best advice is to go “old school.” Don’t dive too deep into Pinterest-land because even though it looks great on-line, in your friend’s home, or even in your last property - it may not look the same in yours. Instead, visit a local paint store and pick up swatches. Narrow your choices by seeing the swatches in your home, in your lighting. If you’re the type of person who wants to see the actual paint on the wall, I get it. But please don’t paint directly on the wall to test a color! Paint a white board that you can move around the room and see in different lights. (Leave a border around 3 of the 4 edges - it will help your eye to not compare it to the color already on your wall. For the fourth (long) edge, paint all the way up to the edge of the board so you can see how the color behaves when it’s directly next to a cabinet, trim, floor, etc. And be sure to apply two coats - one coat is deceptive - it’s not the true color.) If you’re still stumped, decide how much time you want to continue to spend on finding the right color and consider hiring a pro to help!
