Feltwerker - Upcycled Accessories https://feltwerkerupcycled.square.site/ repurposing old wool sweaters since 2006 Each sweater is a new adventure.

Since 2006, I have been remaking old wool sweaters into one-of-a-kind, colorful, textural and beautiful - fingerless gloves, scarves, bags, flower pins, kits and the soon to be infamous dryer balls!

A gift from the universe and a kind neighbor. Our thoughts are powerful! I’ve been yearning for golden rod for at least a couple weeks now a neighbor was pulling out and throwing out this beautiful golden rod and kindly gave it to me.

2026 Note to self

I have been experimenting with avocado, skins and pits for natural dying over the last several years, usually just once a year. I eat a lot of avocados! This time I tried to keep track and do a better job with mordanting.

From left to right:

#2 stones and skins in an aluminum pot,

#3 skins in an aluminum pot,

#4 all the spent stones and skins back together in an aluminum pot.

The fourth one without a number was prepared with soy milk all the rest were prepared with Alum.

The very last piece that is almost brown was either dyed twice or prepared with soy. I lost track. in any case it was the last thing I dyed so maybe the color difference is because of reheating.

These have not yet been well rinsed or washed, so some of the dye may still wash out.

Still trying to use up fabric that I’ve had for a very long time in an attempt to downsize my workspace. I’m going to try to add inseam pockets for the first time to this dress. Usually I go for patch pockets. Looking forward to wearing this during the heat wave.

Spent the day trying to use up scraps with patchwork. Sure takes a long time!

Instead of cramming my scraps into another bin I’m trying to use them sooner very happy with what this is turning into. I think I’m gonna have to make a full copy of my pattern so that I don’t waste fabric as it’s probably not quite big enough will be using dress #2
