Well as an former installer who has worked for most of the stores and big box companies out there i can tell you why! Here are a few reasons why. Companies make money off us installers doing your job. They charge you top dollar for us to do what it is we do.

We get about half of that. Also them big companies also make us supply most of the supplies needed to do your job. Also the sales rep who comes out to talk with you. He has never installed flooring a day in his life. He makes money off talking you into this sale and making countless promises. As a installer for a big company, we are not gonna do a bunch of extra work for free. The salesman always tells us "i'll take care of you". Which they rarely ever do when it comes payday. Resulting in an installer with a bad attitude. Who is also trying to rush your job doing sub par work. With me, im the one selling you on MY services. We agree on a price. I come in and do the work. I make what I want, which is always less than what a big named store would charge. I am the one installing your floor. From start to finish you deal with me. Not no sub contractors or anyone else. I take the time to do things right. You always get a warranty with me. I carry General Liability Insurance and workers Comp. Me and the guys i use to help me all have clean background checks. And if you are supplying the materials, there is never any money upfront. You pay nothing until you are happy with the install. And quotes are ALWAYS free. I also work 7 days a week. So no need to take a day off work to get your job installed!
