Look who made the news! We were so thrilled to sit down with KWCH 12 News to share the story behind Colvin Elementary’s winning Teachers’ Lounge Makeover!

In this clip, our very own HGTV Home Stager and Lori Johnson talk about how a simple request from a PTA member sparked this entire movement and how thousands of your votes helped Colvin take home the win! We also couldn’t resist sharing a snippet of art teacher Shannon Bohn’s hilarious entry video (hiding under the desk was pure genius! 😂).

Who are the Design Besties?

A designer, inventor, artist, and stager who met through an industry conference and became each other’s biggest cheerleaders.

What started as friendship turned into something bigger, a nonprofit giving back to the people molding our future: teachers.

Through our Teachers Lounge movement, we transform the spaces they rest in, because they deserve to feel as valued as they make our kids feel every day. You’ll find us bopping around markets, showing up for each other, and making sure nobody does this journey alone. Bestie energy only!!! 🤍

We had an incredible time at today’s Annual Pep Rally supporting Wichita Public Schools and the Wichita Public Schools Foundation! This is our video announcement of the winning school . A huge shoutout to Lori and Whitney for being there in person to cheer everyone on and representing our team.

We finally get to announce this. The Design Besties are coming to Memphis! Our biggest install to date. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

We are beyond thrilled to bring the Teachers’ Lounge Movement to - the only school backed by an NBA franchise -> .

And we can’t wait! Follow along as we give these dedicated teachers a lounge space truly deserved.

But there’s more! is joining the party. Our first collaboration where the students are also getting a space.
