Can we take a minute to wish my mom a HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎊
Y’all my mom is a woman with a kind heart and soul. No matter what hardship she has faced in life she has met each and every single challenge with bravery. From becoming a widow at the age of 24, to moving to America to raise us as a single parent, to trying to get justice for my dad’s murd3r, every stride she has taken over these past decades has been filled with bravery.
Bravery isn’t the only word to describe my mom, she is also kind and generous, and one of the kindest acts that my mom has done has been to open this school of hers, Hatianda Noman Kindergarten. My mom values education, growing up she drilled it into my brother and my head that we must be knowledgeable, and when the opportunity arose for her to share the gift of knowledge she did so by opening this school. She wanted as many children from her paternal village to have access to education and over the past 28 years she has provided a place where the kids of the village can go to learn. The school that was once a grouping of small huts has turned into a real building over the years, it has produced kids that have gone on to earn scholarships for further education, the school now holds classes for K-4, and this school is my moms gift to her community.
I was so delighted to see this celebration when I opened my WhatsApp this morning that I just had to share this joyful moment with everyone.
