Black cats only please. Not that we have anything against other cats, but black cats are the ones most associated with Halloween...as witch familiars. This display is full of black cats, vintage and newer. We've also added a vintage rat poison bottle, embossed with a rat, just for fun. It's all new to our shop this morning. We call this one The Coven, for obvious reasons. Everything witchy has found its way here, from a vintage glass witch ball and game piece to a trio plus one of old hag figures. Of course we added a cauldron topped with tiny frogs, and the book is opened to the "Double, double, toil and trouble" scene from Macbeth. It's new to our shop. Stop by soon for a look. This isn't just any forest. This is an Enchanted Forest, where elves and cupids, cherubs and witches come to play with bunnies and turtles and all other beings who reside there. The French kitchen is always ready for work. A small greenhouse with fresh herbs for snipping, pie birds, spices, a creme de la Coeur mold, large vintage Mason jars and plenty of copper. What you can't see here are the copper kettle and 3-arm candelabra, and the vintage Quimper plates. Guess you'll just have to stop by to give them a look! Hot, sunny, gorgeous Tuscany. This is our homage to a region of Italy that seems to have it all, good food, good wine and scenery that could make you cry it's so beautiful. Our vignette, Tuscan Nights, is an al fresco dinner, with Italian-made pottery dishes, sunflowers in terracotta, of course, a vintage map of Florence, the capital of Tuscany, and a landscape that could be of that sunny region. It's new to our shop inside Magpie Market , 1125 Kenny Centre Drive in Columbus, Ohio. We're open July 4 from noon to 5 pm so if you can't make it in today, stop by tomorrow. See you there!

Music in the air...Whether it's an outdoor concert, the fife and drums of a July 4th parade or the choir singing in your local church, music is a fabric in our lives, bringing us together and imprinting on our souls certain moments that, given just a few bars, we remember forever. A woman's dresser is a story of who she is or wants to be.
Here, a Victorian calling card hand clip holds dainty handkerchiefs. A lighter, decorated with faux pearls, however, shows a more daring side. Just look to the faux snakeskin jewelry box (with key) for confirmation. This is the dresser top of a modern woman, but with strong ties to the past. It's new to our shop. Stop by for a look. Manhattan Nights...Cool, sophisticated, urbane. That's the feeling we were going for when putting together this bar vignette. The martini glasses on the mirror tile are in the Depression glass pattern known as Manhattan. We added a few plates and bowls in the pattern as well. And the mid-century penguin rocks glasses? Fruit Full...Summer is the season for, arguably, the best fruits. Strawberries, raspberries, cherries, watermelon...admittedly grapes and apples are later summer fruits...but we decided to pay homage to them as well in our newest display. We refreshed our bookcase with some new and interesting finds and our seasonal shelf features books that are perfect for light summer -- or beach-- reading, including Peter Benchley's Beast (still trying to find a reasonably priced copy of his book Jaws) and Michael Crichton's Lost World. Charlie Brown and the gang are also on deck in the summer section. Up top, not shown here, is a 60th anniversary copy of Fahrenheit 451 and a rare copy of The Beatles Second Album book.
