I was approached a few weeks back to design and build a shelf/focal piece for a business who was opening at a new location. The local school is the Upperman Bees. I’m not usually a fan of posting photos of my projects until they are done but I have been asked to do so by “the boss”. I’m excited how well this is coming together and cannot wait to see what this will look like with some color on it. Stay tuned for the final results.

This little dude is a world wind of energy, chaos, love, and chaos! To him, I’m either daddy or bruh. I’m beyond blessed to be able to celebrate him on National Son Day.

A wedding gift with a story behind every detail.

I had the pleasure of creating this one-of-a-kind chess box as a wedding gift, and this project was truly special from beginning to end.

The lid features a full-size chessboard crafted from maple and walnut, accented with a thin padauk inlay. The exterior of the box is made from cherry, with an ambrosia maple bottom, finished off with antique brass hinges and a locking hasp.

But what makes this piece truly meaningful is the story behind the design. The mother of the bride wanted to honor her daughter, an Army medic, and incorporate that part of her story into a piece that would become part of their new life together.

From the American flag and medical insignia to the personalized message inside the lid, every element was intentionally chosen to represent service, sacrifice, love, and family.

This is exactly why I love creating custom pieces. It isn’t just woodworking. It’s taking someone’s story, their memories, and the things that matter most to them—and turning them into something they can hold onto for generations.

Built with purpose. Built to tell a story. Built to last.

Almost had a mishap at the wood shop this morning. I was burning some scraps and whatnot, well I went inside for a few minutes to eat breakfast. Thank God for amazing, close neighbors.

I don’t usually post projects while they’re still in progress because, well… they’re unfinished. 😂

Normally, these photos are reserved for the person I’m making the piece for. I want them to see the progress, make sure they like what they’re seeing, and have the opportunity to suggest changes along the way.

For all of my projects, I want the font to be exactly what you want. And I want to make sure you’re happy with the image I’ve chosen to burn before I make it permanent.

That’s one of the things I love most about creating custom pieces. It’s not just me making something for you — it’s us creating something together.

Every font, image, detail, and little decision becomes part of the story behind the finished piece.

That’s what makes a custom design special. It’s just as much your project as it is mine.
